Have the contacts state where the mission will take place
It would certainly help to plan better. They don't even have to mention the specific area...just the zone would be enough for me.

@Lyrik
And...some sense in some mission placement, robbing The Thorn Island Branch of the LSSL bank is fun sometimes, but trekking all the way to the north of the Nerva Zone for a bank robbery on a will desolate place inhabited by mad mages hmmmm
God, yes.
Well, alternatively, get rid of any missions outside the contact's own zone that don't have a good plot reason behind them, but if that's too much trouble, this would be a nice way to compensate for its downsides a little.
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

Add something to indicate all timed and "kill all" missions, and I'm all for at least stating what zone the mission will be in.
Another quick one - place the location of the mission, whether it's a door or talkie mission, at the end of each mission briefing. For example, [This mission will take place in the Downfall area of Atlas Park], and so on. Doing so would be a massive aid for those of us who run a lot of contact missions and could use the knowledge to plan our route in advance, especially if it involves having a large team of varying levels in tow.

One of the reasons that police ban/newspaper missions are so great is that you know what zone they are in and that they won't be timed or "kill all" missions.
I like original content mission arcs, but Arrest # of X, contact runs, and zone hops can really put a damper on teaming.

I'm pretty sure all timed missions mention a "you'll only have this much time to act once it's started" at the end of the briefing. At least blueside.

This. Good grief yes.

Also: Reduce "Hunt XX Faction" reduced to 20-25 maximum.
Also: poster above is correct that players taking timed missions are generally warned beforehand.

I know this topic is a little old, but...No, all timed missions are not necessarily posted in the mission brief. Just the other night, it was late and I didn't have much time to play so I took a S&D mission. I forget the group I was looking for, but it was in the level 15 to 20 range. I figured I could do that and then hit the sack. So I go out and defeat 15 of whatever it was. Next thing I know I finish off number 15 and a new mission pops up with a 1:30 time limit. All I could think was WTF! Next thing I know it's an hour past when I wanted to be asleep and I'm just turning off the computer.....

However, I do agree that the mission brief should at least state what zone the mission will take place in.

Well, one thing to remember is that the timer stops when you log off, so if you'd logged off the timer would've remained at the same time until you next logged on.

From my experience, the timer keeps running even when I'm logged out. I have gotten disconnected and taken as much as 20 minutes to get back on and these 20 minutes where gone from the timer.

Maybe it's just me, but that timer does not stop when I log out...
But I've also given some thought to the "Mission brief should include location" and in some ways, it does.
If the mission brief states:
1) that the location is local, I generally find that the mission is in the same zone I am in, no matter what zone that is. I've taken the same mission several times with different characters by phone and this seems to be the case, but may not be 100%
2) that "I need to get over there" (wherever there is) then I bet, and am right most of the time, that the mission will be in any zone that I am not currently in, no matter what zone I am currently in. Same experience as above when taking missions by phone.
3) The mission is for a specific type of enemy and there is no indication of either of the above then most of the time it will be in the zone where this enemy is prevalent at that level... the Family at 20-25 plan on independence port, etc.
The above are not hard and fast rules, but with my limited experience (I haven't actually been playing that long) I can usually tell when reading the brief how far I'm going to travel. If for example, it is a timed mission and I have a strong suspicion that it will be in another zone, no matter what zone I'm in then I travel to the train I think has the best chance of taking me to where I'm guessing it is and this guess is generally based on the enemy involved.
On the other hand, there are some missions that seem to always be in the same zone every time, no matter what. Like the 3rd mission in the Arc that gives you the ouro portal, this one has always been in SC for me.
Some mystery in the location is fun, however, getting a timed mission and finding out that it is in Perez Park and then finding out the door is in "The Maze" and it takes more than half of the allowed time just to find the door..... Hugely annoying!

Yuo might want to consider the vidiotmaps map pack. It marks all of the paths in perez on your in game map.
