AE tickets for Rare Salvage breakeven?
There's no way I'd do that. I'd take my chances with 10-14 bronze rolls and hope to get a -kb recipe. 540 ticket gives you 9 shots at it. You could then craft it and get 10M easily for that.
EDIT: Only exception I can think of is a really low level alt that needs the funds to craft or list something more expensive.
I am like Fury, if I do a AE mission I would rather try for a recipe I can sell. Times I have traided ticks for salvage was when I wanted to stock up on rare salvage for my SG grab bag storage (open to anyone in the sg).

Nothing saids its your spot like an ourob. Portal dropped on the ground.
do you guys use tickets to buy the salvage you need to craft stuff?
going to jump on the 10-14 bronze rolls bandwagon.
your going to be able to put a down payment on a scrooge mcduck style money pool by the time you get done crafting and selling steadfast 3%'s and all the other high dollar goodies that drop from that reward bag.

I guess I'm moving against the stream of the segment of players who generally populate this particular forum. I prefer AE tickets, regardless of going rate at the market. It's fun to beat stuff up. Checking the market beyond looking for recipes that I'd like is a waste of life to me, so I try to get all salvage from AE and missions. If I need a particular piece in the low or mid-level range, Ouroboros or a task force is also an option that lets me do what's most fun to me - actually using the powers I'm slotting up or check how the builds I finally made worked out.

To actually answer the OPs question
Its really variable most of the answers above don't factor in the fact that you are doing the equivalent of mucking out the stables to get your inf, so aside from the variable nature just how much do you want to do to make your inf ?
For example bronze 10-14 roll done at min level.
Rolling at level 10 there are 149 possible outcomes, of those there 5recipes that have significant value @ level 10.
Steadfast KB
Karma KB
Kismet +acc
Regen tissue +regen
BOTZ
The KB ios have a full chance in the roll, while the kismet , the regen and the botz are weighted at 1/8
so you have
8*(steadfast recipe)/1192 + 8*(karma)/1192+botz/1192 + kismet/1192 + regen/1192
As the expected value of the roll
The value of the recipes varies on any given day so how much you can get for them depends on how long you are willing to wait. So I will just use the last values I recall.
Kismet @ 10 = 6 mil
Steadfast @ 10 = 10 mil
Karma @ 10 = 10 mil
Regen @ 10 = 60 mil +
BOTZ @ 10 =10 mil
with the cost of a chance at 60 tickets you get an expected return of about 3300 inf/ticket
if you can sell your salvage for more than 540*3300 or about 1.8 million you break even.
You also didn't have to do nearly as much work.
Now if you go the extra step to craft the recipe you can do much better and the break even becomes much higher.
The question becomes do you have the tickets to roll 100 times or so ? and do you really want to, then do you want to craft and wait a week or two or more to get your return ?
Well, as someone newly returned to the game this thread was of interest to me since they market left me far far behind with inflation while I was gone.
I would have to throw my vote behind the random rolls vote. Not only do you have a shot at potentially getting something you might want to use (LoTG maybe?) you can get some decent payoff recipes. I think I scored 4 KB protections in like 60 rolls just playing around a bit this afternoon and evening. Considering they go for around 10 mil crafted... that's respectable. Also got a few other recipes that went for a few 100K for the recipe, and one that went for 7mil crafted, though I did use tickets to buy a couple pieces of expensive rare salvage to craft it.
I suppose either way works really. Buying rare salvage is less work, though potentially less return as well.
I can see rare salvage being worth it if the character with tickets is at an odd level. A lot of recipes, even if they're normally desirable ones, sell for a lot less if they're not at maximum level.
I've gone for 30-34 random rolls, and would recommend this once you can if you're looking to frankenslot on Villain Side.
In addition to all the frankenfodder, you get a lot of Thunderstrike, Doctored Wounds and Crushing Impacts that sell for a sizeable fraction of a million each.
Plus, I picked up 2 Regenerative Tissue +regens in the same batch of 15 this morning!
I love the random number generator today!
Hey Market folks:
If you were to use AE tickets to buy Rare Salvage to sell on the market, what price "feels about right" for it to break even? Do you see how many are currently for sale and say, "less than 100 available, going to the AE building."
I'm kind of like anything over 2 million/piece seems to be worth it for me, just wondering how you all felt.
