All in all what I really hope is that people had fun today. I will continue to monitor this thread and payout to the winners accordingly. I will also be back to point out some clues that maybe some of you missed that can help prod you along before you die tomorrow at Noon hehehe.

And don't worry I didn't take anything you said as disparaging or an insult.
I would like to take the time to say that this was an unbelievable creation on your part. Really awesome. The process, the suspense, the clues and riddles, everything was great about it.

Regardless of the outcome, everyone should appreciate you putting this together.

Absolutely.

Short of having monitors go with every participant, I don't know how you could stop it.

Still reeks tho.

Agreed. I know people still doing it, eligible or not, just for the challenge and fun.

Well gratz for the people solving it. I give up. Glowies that take 2 minutes (out of 15) to search, hostages that will just literally run OFF THE MAP...yeah...no thanks.

Not that it matters or that I even care anymore, but I'm still curious how the winner of 1000 merits will be able to claim their prize, given that merits aren't tradable*. Or does the winner simply give you a list of things they're going to use the merits on?

*tradeable? Firefox says both are wrong.

(speaking of the misson)

Sometimes when something is impossible, you should try something else.

And yeah, I had the hostage thing happen to me too. It was kinda fun to track where they were running through the walls.

That's how it's been done in other contests.

Trade by puppeting at a merit vendor.

You just tell him how you want them rolled. eg random rolls at x lvl or a few recipies. It's actually a rather cleaver way to award merits as a prize. Pum and Cai (those i have seen do this) are in my opinion beyond repute for giving you exactly what they roll.

Don't get me wrong, I congratulate you guys for solving it, but it just doesn't feel like it's fair, and I am certain I am not the only one.

Just a thought and something to think about. Say what you want.
Hit me up in game please, Al.

Thanks for the event Cai It was a lot of fun and a good challenge.

Anyone crying over the winners being on a team needs to have their head examined. Whatever happened to just doing something for the fun of it? Does not winning one of the grand prizes somehow diminish the personal satisfaction from solving it? It didn't for me.

Grats to the winners

I agree with you, to a point. Especially as it was very fun.

However, when you offer up prizes and see it thusly won (and knowing some of the people involved, even though there was no impropriety it gives the appearance of it), I can sympathize.

Looking forward to playing this tonight! I should have payed closer attention to the thread late last night/early this morning to get a run in.

Grats to the winners!

If I was hoping to win a prize I'd be a bit peeved if a team did it and claimed all the top prizes. Whether it happened or it didn't sometimes the bitterness will be there just because the optics don't look right.

Kinda like being second in line for tickets and then the guy in front of you lets in 7 of his friends before the sales open up.

Yeah, but there'd be a way for that team to make it right...if they thought they were in the wrong (or to avoid the appearance of impropriety) and the people who were in the spirit of the contest were idiots for doing it solo.

Y'know. If.

I started almost an hour after everyone else, ran it solo and was the second to finish. it was certainly doable solo.

WN, I was in AP's AE when you were running them and I never saw you receive any help.

It's unfortunate that your name as a winner kinda gets slimed.

Kudos and congrats.

I had zero to possibly gain from this contest. None. Look back at my first day submission at the top and you'll see I purposfully rendered myself ineligible.

However, I, as others, know of a lot of people who were trying to this in the spirit of the contest and were soloing it.

Should Cai have said teams were illegal? Yeah...but then the same people who were doing it now would have easily gotten around that.

Know your facts before you act as if you know me.

And also, why am I am interested in this? 'cause I'd hate for the Tempest Legion et al to have ruined this for the other people who were soloing it, which then maybe leads to there not being any future events.

gg TL.

What in the world are you going on about?

First off, only one person that I am aware of was from TL, that was me. It wasn't an organized thing, me and Merms teamed up first, because the clue said it would take two people. We ran it twice and failed, then joined 3 others who were teaming and hadn't succeeded yet. I didn't see anywhere that said you couldn't team.

There were 5 people on our team at once point. One was from TL....me. No one else from TL was involved in anyway with this contest that I am aware of.

I sent Cai a question about it, because the first time we succeeded someone, Merms, who apparently wasn't qualified in time, was our team leader....so no one got any prizes. When I explained that only the team leader could get the screenshot with the required contact message, we were told that wasn't enough....not that a team wasn't allowed. So we ran it again! Then we ran it several more times, and failed at least once more, after we figured it out, to get a prize for those who were qualified.

Stop whining or complaining about Tempest Legion or you are going to make me irritated.

If you think I did something wrong, go ahead and say so. Stop badmouthing a group of people who had nothing to do with it.

You and I are on the same thought here Pum. You said it perfectly with "the optics don't look right." It seems slanted by default, not by anyone's innocent actions. I know Reetta well enough to know that she is honest and forthright. I DO NOT find fault in anyone, especially if the rules do not specify so. But, although you and I do not care for the prizes, that does not mean others will not feel slighted.

*Devil's Advocate*
I compare it to a sales add that says: "compete for 3 brand new cars...and "you" show up to give it your best and look around and your "competitor" happened to bring 4 friends & family to win 1 car." That might pass off as okay in my book, having me saying to myself "I wish I thought of that". But what happens if said family walks away with all 3 cars? How will that look? Again...the optics of it.

However, I must completely agree with Cassie here and say this should not bring down the fun within the event itself. So what if some peeps walked away with 1bil, 1000 merits, & 5 LotG's. Grats to them. I'm not upset over it and no one should because it is Cai's event alone to pass judgement. Can we learn from this? Yes. Should we be celebrating Cai's effort and creativity with this? Hells ya. Should fun be emphasized above all else? Always.

Technically it said 3. But I get how that could be confusing.

My apologies, the big TEMPEST LEGION chat at the top threw me.

Team: <player1 who was in ineligible>: that all of em?
Team: <player2 who later won a top prize>: yup 3 prizes
Team: <player1>: Is <player2> the only other one going for it?
Team: <player3 who also won a top prize>: ok, restart it with <player2> in charge?

later...

Team: <player3>: and thank you everyone who helped, when I get the prize, I won't forget you

Very sorry if I misinterpreted that. So sorry if I implied that TEMPEST LEGION was somehow involved.

We're just a private enterprise operation.

As it is, I already acknowledge above that per you, TEMPEST LEGION had nothing to do with it.
