I don't think I "gamed" Cai's event at all. The event itself suggested "bring a friend", and I was asked by someone who I found out later was actually not admitted to win a prize to team. Then we ended up teaming with a few others, only one of which was in for the prize round. After our first successful run, we realized that only the team leader (who wasn't in the game) could win the prize. I sent a tell to Cai who said that only the person who got the mission complete screen could win...so we did it again...3 more times, so that the two of us who were eligible could win. Cai's answer suggested nothing about not teaming, nor did the team rules. Your whole issue is that those who teamed were apparently cheating. There were no rules against teaming. During the event, Cai was asked about teaming, and said nothing except only that the team leader was the only one who could win.

Let me get this straight. You have a TL banner in your signature, TL and TA chats in your screenshot, so it was a leap to associate you with them and them with you. Ok.
I am the leader of TL, and a member of TA. I have a global chat window titled TL and one titled TA. It is a leap to associate things I do with other people in those channels. Blame me for my actions, do not blame people I am associated with with my actions.

Here's what I don't get. At a Hami raid (the first I'd seen you attend in 2 years of regular hami attendance) you got upset when I, while running the tank team, declined the services of a tank without the pretty standard requirement of 10 points of kb protection. You took umbrage because you thought I was discrimminating against the tank because of some percieved personal reason (I had no idea who the tank was or the fact that he felt I had some grudge againt him - to this day I couldn't tell you who it was or why you'd feel that), but part of your rant was railing against community events becoming "elitist" - because evidently, a fire tank purchasing 3 kb IOs is beyond the capability of a player who attends raids. You hit the elitist angle pretty hard, even though it's laughable, and something you'd know to be untrue if you had actually attended raids. Yet evidently, you felt so upset by it that you refused to participate in something dominated by "elitist" players and stood on the rock watching the raid. (To be fair, you said you watched to make sure that despite your pronouncement of doom at me taking only 4 vet tanks with taunt and kb protection, that the raid would be ok before you left)
I few weeks ago I got upset and quite a Hami raid when I saw someone who was asking to join the tank team not be invited. I sent a number of tells and was eventually informed that it was because of this lack of kb protection. I did NOT stay at the raid until the end...I left fairly early on. I realized after a bunch of tells that perhaps I was making to much of the issue. What I saw was a Justice player being excluded from the raid, and since I have been to tons of raids...and was only showing up because they were asking for more people, and because I didn't like seeing people excluded, I didn't feel like staying. So I left. *shrug* I was in touch with several regular raid leaders who were there and made sure the raid was going well...it was, so I hardly felt bad about leaving.

I stand up for what I believe in. Sometimes I might be wrong. In that case I didn't feel like taking part in a raid where people were being excluded for no good reason that I could see. Apparently there was a reason. So I left for no good reason. Someone filled my spot and the raid succeed. So what? Someone else was able to attend a raid, I didn't. I can see getting upset if I actually stayed in the hive and mooched. But I have never done that, and didn't.

Also, this seems a bit off point from this contest. It appears that you have a personal issue with me. This doesn't have anything to do with Cai's event.

Quote:
What I don't get is how you can couple that stance you took and a position I agree with (there's no place for elitism) with the fact that you, as a member of two old and established groups on the server and your position as moderator in two of the most active and public channels of the server, did what you could to "game" the contest and deny other players a fairer opportunity to benefit from the prizes that were available. Darkbridger (who I respect both as a person and as a player) quite rightly brings up the point that members of TL didn't need the prize offerings and yet, I can't square that with the fact that you did - and as you said earlier, you aren't splitting that prize up.
I don't believe I "gamed" this contest. I completed it within the rules that were set. And the mission itself suggested the need for a team.

I am not rich. I do not farm and never had. I have given away more $ than I currently have on all my alts. I have played 25 alts up to 50 without PLing and have only one that has purples. I am not sure what DB's comments are relevant to for this issue, but...as I told the relative strangers that I teamed with, I will be splitting the prize money with them, despite the fact that they were not eligible to win.

Quote:
So which is it? You needed the influence and saw an easy way to get it, in which case you were motivated by greed and seized the opportunity at the expense of other, more casual players - something that could perhaps be described as "elitist".
Which is it? I saw what looked like a fun event, had not expectation I would win anything at all, and wanted to support a Justice server event. I ended up completing the contest fairly quickly, with help as allowed within the rules, and apparently won, according to the person running the contest. Are you really suggesting that you are arguing all this to defend the casual player?

Quote:
Or, you didn't need the influence and decided to claim the prize by gaming the contest at the expense of other, more casual players - motivated by something that could perhaps be described as "Schadenfruede".
Yes, I actually do need the money. But, again, as I usually do, I am giving a large part of it away. As I did after Cai's last event, I suggested much smaller prizes, because I think the specter of big prizes bring out the ugliness in people afterwords and the most important thing is the event.

Quote:
You and others that participated said you just wanted to team and have fun. Fair enough, except that two of you claimed 2 of the top 3 prizes. I think you have all said pretty much all that needs to be said, by your own actions.
You could look at this several ways. One, we were smart enough to team, and that was an advantage. Two, we actually had to complete the mission multiple times to get two prizes, is that really that big a deal? What exactly are you suggesting, that the team that won the first and third prize should turn in our prizes to you, because you didn't team...even though that wasn't against the rules? So, because we were smart enough to play CoX as a team...we shouldn't win a contest that we had to complete multiple times? We already have seen a post from the person winning the 2nd prize who went solo and started an hour later. Clearly teaming wasn't an overwhelming advantage.

Quote:
And as WrongNumber has pointed out, she accomplished the same alone and in less time than it took the 5 of you to accomplish. Perhaps that says volumes as well about why you teamed. Eh, maybe not.
I suppose so. I would take complaints from WrongNumber much more seriously than yours...except WrongNumber's achievements sort of underscore the point, don't they? The contest had no rules about teaming or not. The clues suggested teaming. We teamed. A team managed to grab the 1st and 3rd prize. Wow, big surprise. CoX teams often do better than solo.

Quote:
By choice, you are in a leadership role on the server, both by being members of and unless I am mistaken (which could easily be true by virtue of my not really caring about SGs) leader of Tempest Legion (one of the more established SGs on the server) and also by being a moderator in at least 2 of the server community global channels.
...

Quote:
Why on earth would you, in that role, put yourself in a position to take from that community?
I don't believe I have. I believe that you perhaps have an agenda or some preconceived ideas about me perhaps colored by certain other individuals on our server.

Disclaimer: Like Katfood, I am also a moderator in JFA2010 and Justice United. Mermoine is a moderator in JFA2010.
I don't know who sent you this. I believe that Mermoine is actually a moderator in those channels, and might be a TA member (I would have to check). I am not sure what that has to do with anything, except that you seem to be suggesting that membership in certain groups somehow imparts some sort of taint upon those people. I would encourage you to reexamine that opinion.

Quote:
tl;dr - Integrity is a pillar of leadership.
Good point. Reread that and then think deeply about your opinions and what you are willing to say about others.

PS. Cai, I am sorry for responding to this post and bringing more of this sort of ugliness into the thread that was originally about your contest.

Dear Justice,

I find this "drama" thread to be lacking in the following:

1)There are no direct references to zartain thus far,or atleast no use of his name.

2)swear words : please include more

3)spelling error and puncuation correction: this is the easyiest way to point how stupid people are

4)blameing Con: Con is the root of all ebil

5)a guest apperence by RA : nothing is better than one of the more 1337 players telling us all we are wasting time arguing on the forums

6)A well thought out post by toona on why everyone that posted sucks

7)Someone should announce they are leaving the game for good, all because of the drama.

8)EULA Quotes and Interpretations of the EULA

9)funny pictures of cats and kittens

10)a link to an oldschool rap song. followed by how "new rap sucks, thats why I listen to Journey or Phil Collins"

11) A "Hey Guys, Im back wud I miss" post (hint hint smoke)

12)even more chat logs and screen shots: this includes irrelevent stuff

13)the "can't we all get along?" post

14)Devs are player haters; blame the Devs, it always gets you points with ppl still bitter about nerfs

15)call each other trolls: This is a Justice FAV and no thread should go without. I will not be happy unless someone gets called a troll

16)references to so called trolls: There have been so many ppl mislabeled as trolls here, pick one and acuse someone here of doing what said troll did. ie "zartain you're just a new version of blackscourge, Justice is just a bunch carebears. Get used to it!"

17)late posters: always gotta have someone chime in late after the fight

18)personal info to make people feel sorry for you: Cancer, Going to doctors to check to see if you have cancer, crashed your truck, GF broke up wtih you cuzz you got to fat, lightning struck good puter, etc ,etc----- take advantage of this thread to get pitty points

19)Iggy: The best threads in justice history had this man

I emailed ig and got this ;
Sry Zar.

RL has come up, and i´ve been hell busy. gotta fly to aus this weekend so i don´t see it easing up soon either.
PS tell everyone "Anyone that owes me money or powerleveling plz pay it to zartain"

20)Mod 8: one day the entire universe will be blanked out with a banner that says "DELETED BY MOD8"

Cai. I just survived the Hack....after dying like 5 times lol. Seriously it was a lot of fun running around figuring out the clues and everything. Hope to see more like it in the future. This is the kinda thing AE was made for and it's nice to see you making it your own.

Thanks for the feedback and for giving it a try. As always, keep an eye on the Justice Server forum for future (if any) events.
