Devs turn off their PMs from time to time when they're trying to get stuff done but too many players are pestering them for information, taking away time from getting stuff done. Obviously at the moment, BABs has way more important things to do than answer PMs. Going Rogue doesn't make itself!
Don't jump to conclusions. Get your exercise the regular way.

As I said, there is no real harm in asking. Chris is a fantastic force for good in this game. His talent for his job, and his passion for communications with the community have always been welcomed. Castle, BaB's, WarWitch, Jlove, and now David have been the main posters for some time now. I would just hate to lose a talent and personality such as Chris and thought to ask outright.

well, nothing really indicates that he is leaving rather than turning of pm's because he is going to be swamped by work, but he had better not be leaving. he made 2009 for me on coh and him leaving would be a major blow to me.
Personally, I suspect that the recent drought in GR information (which seems to be ending! Yay!) might have something to do with it. As mentioned, Bab is one of the more vocal and approachable devs... so when people are thinking of someone to pester for GR information (that he's not allowed to give anyway), he probably comes fairly high on the list. So, if they're entering crunch time and he's being bogged down with irrelevant PMs that he can't hope to give a good answer too... it's understandable why he'd want to turn it off and take a break from being the forum nice guy for a little while.
Just my guess, at least.

Why would BABs be leaving? The announcement was for new people that are coming and and a bit of a shuffle in the chairs. Why would you assume BABs was on his way out?

You have always been one of the more vocal Developers that we have had. While it would be a shame to lose you and your talent, it would be understandable.
I guess with that "No Pm's" notification, a few of us have been wondering if you are still going to stay with the team is all.
Nothing was mentioned by Mellissa in her thread about new positions, but... seldom does a game announce they are losing a highly talented and valued Senior member.
We can all speculate on what the no pm's thread was about.. but I thought I would ask and see if you can or could answer.
SO... Chris....
