Axe/SR Insane build or Possible?

So, I've been messing with various /SR characters and I am currently leveling a claws/SR that I'm quite happy with so far. I've adapted the build to an Axe primary, since I've really always wanted to give that primary a go. The damage on the build looks great, however, with the amount of recharge that I've mustered on the build, along with the high potential for large amounts of extra recharge and haste end dumps, I was curious if it was even possible to self sustain this build due to frequency of the attacks and their endurance cost?

I'm not certain if I could lower the endurance costs of this build anymore without giving up softcapped defenses (Which I'd never do on a SR build) or giving up tons of recharge or recharge potential.

Anyhow, since I'm not very adept in direct conversion of numbers from mids to gameplay I was curious what others thought? On another note might some relate to me how the accuracy percentages in mids correlates to accuracy percentage in games against +0 through +4 and minion to archvillian?

Axe/SR is definitely doable. Mine is a crazy little hatchet ninja. The only thing you have to watch out for is endurance problems. I frankenslotted as much as I could after softcapping to ensure endurance reduction without losing damage.

Yeah same with the Axe/SR build I did. Pretty much frankenslotted most of my attacks since def cap is not hard to hit with an SR, that is what helped me out more controlling end reduction.

That is my main concern.

Looking at the activation costs of the powers makes it seem like it would be very hard not to sap your endurance to absolutely nothing in a very brief period of time.

I'm not wanting to give up any recharge if possible, but it would probably behoove me to remove the Force Feedback procs from non-AoE powers and replace them with endurance reduction IOs.

Unfortunately I don't think I can manage to frankenslot my attacks without giving up too much recharge.

I am doubting this build would out perform my Claws/SR in any aspect, anyhow.

you need thank much recharge on an SR. I'd frankenslot for End. If you wanted to you could throw a Rech/End Reduc in there. 2 birds w/ 1 stone.

Any particular reason for all that recharge? Most of the Axe attacks have almost exactly the same DPA, so Chop -> Gash -> Swoop -> Cleave is pretty much as good as it gets and only needs around 95% global recharge so you can use Hasten, Quickness, and one or two minor recharge bonuses to get that... and you can just add Pendulum when Hasten is down or there are multiple enemies in range for a minor DPS drop but increased AoE.

About the only reason I can think of for 155% recharge on Axe is for spamming Whirling Axe and Pendulum faster, but that's not going to help you if your blue bar is empty...

Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)
Mechmeister, level 50 Bots / Traps MM
FAR too many non-50 alts to name

The Instant Lair Delivery Service: 206636

I grabbed Hasten, Lightning Reflexes, and threw in a couple of LoTG 7.5% recharge IOs that I picked up from merit hunting. I never have any problems. Also, my /SR defense rocks so hard that I don't NEED to constantly spam attacks in order to win. When my blue bar drops to about halfway, I just crank back on the throttle a little. I always have an overabundance of greens with enemies only having a 5% chance to hit me, so one or two shots aren't so terrifying.

Quick question on this subject: How many slots would you put into the Auto defense powers like Agile and Lucky? I have 3 in each planned for my build right now, and I don't know if that's too many or not. I don't have Mids to give me the numbers on this Mac, so I've been mostly playing it by ear (My math-fu is weak, and I'm bad at putting in IO bonuses without a build to help me see what is or isn't too much or too little, etc.).

I HAD the build in Mids on my old PC, but its hard drive melted due to a bad fan that didn't oscillate fast enough, but made enough noise for me to think it was still working. >_<

Here's a layout of my build, power-wise:

(Using Ninja Run as Travel Power)
Lv 1 - Beheader
Lv 1 - Focused Fighting
Lv 2 - Gash
Lv 4 - Focused Senses
Lv 6 - Hurdle
Lv 8 - Swoop
Lv 10 - Practiced Brawler
Lv 12 - Agile
Lv 14 - Health
Lv 16 - Dodge
Lv 18 - Boxing
Lv 20 - Stamina
Lv 22 - Evasion
Lv 24 - Tough
Lv 26 - Cleave
Lv 28 - Weave
Lv 30 - Whirling Axe
Lv 32 - Pendulum
Lv 35 - Quickness
Lv 38 - Lucky
Lv 41 - Hasten
Lv 44 - Build up
Lv 47 - Elude
Lv 49 - Super Speed, Taunt, or Sprint. Haven't decided yet.

The character is currently at lv 44.

It all depends on your sets. If you aren't planning on investing in sets with defense bonuses, then 3 slot your powers. I'm fond of Gift of the Ancients. You could 2 slot that with the 7.5 runspeed and the defense, gain some end recovery, and throw a 3rd generic defense IO in it to leave it near the ED cap. If you have the slots to spare, it's a good idea. I also don't know if you're going after LOTG 7.5's. If those aren't planned, I'd 4 slot Gift of the Ancients in your 4 toggles first. (I think I'm right at thinking 4 with weave).

Slotting a 3rd generic lvl 50 IO will add 0.5% defense to a passive.

Some builds can softcap without 3-slotting them.

Sorry to hear about the mids.

May I suggest taking Combat Jumping? Combined with hurdle, you can get some decent speed, and you also get to add another 1.88% defense to all positions for very low endurance. If you're aiming for the soft-cap, for most content elude will not offer any additional protection.

I'm getting 40.9% defense to all 3 positions with the following slotting/powers
-Gift of the Ancients (Def, Def/End, 7.5% Run, Def/End/Rech) in all 4 defense toggles (including weave)
-2 generic IO's in all passive defenses. (will be at 41.5 with 3 slots)
-Steadfast 3% in Tough

Now if you'll use sets in your passives, you'll want to 3 slot them.

As others have pointed out, Axe doesn't benefit all that much from recharge, and neither does Super Reflexes. Axe DPA is very consistent across most of its attacks, making high recharge both less necessary and less beneficial than in other sets. The way that defense functions, Super Reflexes actually has NO use for recharge. Elude is useless in the current defense system once soft capped.

I'd go with +hp/+regen and +recovery/+max end.

I'd have to agree with you, with as much recharge as I put in the orginal build I've found, by mulling over the numbers, that my lower tier attack will be recharge far sooner than I will get through my typical attack chain.

I could easily dial back the recharge and look for more benefical set bonuses.

Switch, mind explaining that build of yours?

I love taunt sets, but when your attacks aren't getting any +DMG or -End, I'll need to report you to the Better Bruting Bureau.
