I would participate. But not under these match options. If the Devs ARE using arena options menu for data mining for future PvP changes; all three of those options need to be turned off.

I agree on TS being off and heal decay too but if you turn off DR your gonna have squishys running around with 70% res to all..

Sadly, you need DR on because everything has capped resists if you don't. The only thing that would get kills would be to random stalkers getting teamed together

I'm keeping the rules like this. The goal as I see it of the PvPEC is to provide the communities with unique variations of PvP so as to bring both "PvPrs" and "PvErs" together.

I'm sorry if some of you guys don't like how we've structured this event but I encourage you to come out anyways. Not all events will be setup this way, but keep in mind were trying to add spice and diversity in our events to keep interest among the community.

I appreciate what you and the PvPEC are attempting to do; however as a farmer and therefore an avid PvEr I tend not to participate in PvP events because of travel supression and the effects of DR on my builds. Unfortunately what lucky and empire pointed out is correct. I hadn't taken the inherent resist the new PvP rules offer into account so there's no way of getting around DR (FOR THE MOMENT). Hope the devs correct this some time within the near future. However you can eliminate TS.

The reason TS is on while heal decay is off is to even the playing field against healing type classes in a a suitable manner. This way you give the healer there full heals but they get suppressed so they can't run away from damage, thus never losing per say

So evading damage is no longer considered a viable tactic in PvP?

Again I appreciate what you're trying to do but most of the PvP and PvE community are against travel supression. PvPEC should be implementing options that reflect the communities views on the current state of PvP.

I understand why DR is on; can't help that. You can remove TS and Heal Decay (my opinion). PvPEC should probably start a poll on arena options for future events if it wants to act as a community event group.

The person who is hosting the event is the person who makes the rules. Those who agree to the rules, will participate and those who don't, won't! Pretty simple, IMO.

I'd agree with your argument, If this event were not being hosted by a rep of a community PvP group.

PVPEC: A player committee formed by Ex Libris to create and promote PvP events on the Live servers and the Test server. This community project, while started by a NCsoft Community Rep, has always been intended to be run by the players and thus was turned over to them shortly after creation.

A PvPEC community poll for Arena option settings would be nice.

My original statement still stands. "The person who is hosting the event is the person who makes the rules. Those who agree to the rules, will participate and those who don't, won't! Pretty simple!!"

And besides, you can never satisfy everyone! There will always be people who will cry and complain about the way the event was run, or the unfairness of the rules, or that someone cheated, blah blah blah.

So suit up and show up and just have a great time. If you don't like it, then you host the next one with the rules being on your terms. Simple!

I'm gonna have to agrre with Tokya on this one most of the community are against TS and HD and this is pretty well known why would such things be implemented when most dislike them greatly?

I'm just curious how exatly do you guys get these PVPEC titles? Are they self appointed? because quiete frankly it sounds like you don't speak for the community at all but only yourself.

Anyone can apply and I believe Critical Kat posted asking for reps on freedom. It's not an easy job so I would like to commend anyone who steps up and runs an event. Re the person running the event makes the rules...I THINK (may be wrong) that the committee actually makes the rules for the PvPEC cross server events but any rep who runs an event on their server makes their own rules.

I think you should read Lucky666's previous post. I'm too lazy to ask you to read and comprehend.

HD is off, DR is on. While the PvP segment hates DR without it the goofy resists mess everyhting up worse. If tehre where an option to turn of the base resists there would be the more sane option of DR off and bonus resists off.

I may be slow for asking but will there be ties or will sudden death count to determine winner?

Ties, Sudden Deaths won't determine anything and thus after you get the "Enter Sudden Death" warning after the 10 minutes are up you should quit and report to me the DRAW.

Tsk Tsk tsk, I'm sorry you feel like your 100% informed on the situation when you're not at all.

I've been given this event by the event committee and I will run it how they want to run it. Will all events be ran like this? No. Personally I don't like TS or HD, but I didn't make this event and this is how its being ran on ALL servers.

Also your comment on how people get into the PvPEC was extremely off base and out of line if you ask me. While I respect your opinion on how we should run event I don't condone how you find running around flaming the validity of community reps because we are running the events how they are presented to us.

For a future note I will be running extra events as well that will go by MY RULES, because they are the events I thought up. So to say I am doing things out of a self conviction against whatever you think I have a vendetta against would be a wrong statement in all its entirety.

Please keep these things in mind when replying. Hope to see all of you guys at future events!

I wasnt flaming I was just asking how you got these titles as PVPEC it may have sounded out of line but I don't feel it was in the least. Apparently some event committee gave it to you maybe you could point me in the direction to find more about the event committee.

Again this wasn't flaming just stating my opinion about the subject because it didn't sound like you were speaking for the community in the least.

Philly answered your question on page1, Lucky. This event is a PVPEC event and the same exact event is being held crosserver with the same exact format. The particular format is one that was chosen for THIS event. That's all.

To add to more info for your question.. Anyone willing to volunteer time can join Pvpec. A common misconception by the playerbase is that Pvpec reps are some sort of elite pvp'ers who were indoctrined into the VOLUNTEER COMMITEE based on pvp knowledge and//or prowess. That is an incorrect ASSumption that is often made( no offense Pvpec reps). Most of the time it is comprised of players willing to volunteer time and effort to promote pvp in the game. Sometimes reps have alot of experience and sometimes they do not.Like I said it's a VOLUNTEER commitee that any player can join no matter level of experience in pvp. Pvpec runs many different types ofevents with many different types of rules with the hopes of garnering more INTEREST for PVP in general. That's why you get an event like this one with a certain ruleset and maybe next month there will be an event with a completely different ruleset. The purpose of Pvpec is to run events that put pvp on the foreront and get more players interested.

tl;dr version^^^

In short. If the rules of this event aren't something that looks fun to you( understood you) chances are the next event or even the one after that one might be more appealing.<3

Edited to add a link on where to find out more about Pvpec:

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=200926

http://pvpec.guildportal.com/Guild.a...&TabID=1463928

Looks like the Pvpec site is pretty out of date but the committee statement etc are there. Happy reading!!!

Edited once more to add these in case you dont feel like searching the site:

The PVPEC is a group of dedicated City of Heroes/City of Villains players formed for the purpose of promoting increased PvP interest and participation across the game as a whole. The aim of this group is to provide high quality player-driven content to the game community in such a way as to bring PvP to a greater audience, as well as retaining its current constituency.
The PvPEC has three primary goals:

1) To retain a currently diminishing population of dedicated PvP players by providing incentive to keep them interested in City of Heroes/City of Villains PvP.

2) To increase PvP interest in the casual and new player by providing an introduction and educational opportunities on the distinctions between the PvP system and the rest of the game, as well as providing incentive for participating in that portion of the game.

3) To bridge the gap between PvP play and PvE play through storylines that attempt to seamlessly integrate established PvP habits, trends and activites into the extant City of Heroes/City of Villains mythos, with the goal of making PvP meaningful in a world-advancing way.

The overall mission of the PvPEC is to supplement the available resources allotted to PvP development, events, and QoL in the PvP environment with additional player-generated input, organization and effort.

^^ thats the mission statement. As far as who can be in Pvpec check the first link to CriticalKat's thread. Hope this helped. Cheers!

edited again to say : Sorry to threadjack an event thread ;(. I just thought the above info might help clear the air and promote directing the thread back on topic. Then again? I'm a Ditz, ya know? Hope the event is a great success and lots of fun!
