Winter Lord
The Winter Lord, just like Eochai and Babbage, spawns its pets at the level of the person they are targeted on at the time of the power activating. If a level 50 had the aggro, the GM will spawn level 50 pets.

Ok, there I was, a L11 Tank in Atlas, when the call went out that a Winter Lord was up. Gathering a team, I went to fight the Winter Lord, and with his defeat, entered the real of Lord Winter.
My team moved into battle with Lord Winter, and was promptly wiped out, not by the Giant Monster, but by the army of L50 minion Frostlings. Why are there L50 foes in a mission open to all levels? They should be scaled to the level of the characters, like the Rikti or Lord Winter himself. Just thought I'd mention this. |
Happen all the time. All it takes is the agro of a lvl 50 toon, and WL throws out lvl 50 frostlings. I do not understand why the frostlings are still coded by level. It would save so much holiday grief if they were coded like the rikti & zombies during zone invasions.
The plastic tips at the end of shoelaces are called aglets. Their true purpose is sinister.
--The Question, JLU
It seems to be a standard mechanic for giant monsters. Babbage does exactly the same thing. He spawns his little mechanical allies based on the level of a hero fighting him.

Indeed. Well, they should change that, I think.
Usually there are high level heroes during a WL event. Just keep an eye out and pick up a 50 and pass the star to them. It's a nice fix to the issue I think and requires no development time.
Or just let the lowest level take the initial agro. I often would rus to hit the guardians first when playing a lone level 20, and the frostlings would be level 20 then usually dead by the first AOE of the higher levels. Sometimes I could actually hold the agro of the Gaurdian, since the level 50 AOE heals of the high level healers keep me set with heal and energy there is no problem with energy or health.
The better organized groups let the lowbies start the attack. If your not after the badge, as a tank or any melee, your better off solo than in SSK up levels with a group, since the damage scales (except the spawning pet frostings). For healers higher is always better.
