The most current, powerful leveling Blaster?

I find that the place set IO level really matters is in powers you want to enhance a wide range of things on instead of just pushing a couple really high. Pretty much any "standard" slotting is going to push you into ED territory and the diminishing returns mean a few percent more isn't important. On the other hand, for those few powers where you are trying to get a bunch of things into the 40-60% range it matters. For instance, my Plant Controller's immobilizes do decent damage so I slot them for accuracy, damage, recharge, immobilization, and endurance... ideally I want a couple SO's worth of each. Since I'm not hitting the initial diminishing returns point (I think it's 70%) that 3-4% per IO difference would actually matter.

But for most powers, the difference between level 30 and level 50 sets is pretty much one unslotted Brawl, so who really cares?

Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)
Mechmeister, level 50 Bots / Traps MM
FAR too many non-50 alts to name

StrykerX,

I think that's pretty solid advice, especially while playing the toon on a cheaper budget.

I have bounced between a few toons and this guy has become a lot more fun as I hit the late 20's. He's a really solid contributor on teams and the build is pretty much... building itself.

I've given thought to the fighting pool but decided to pass on it for more damage output, and to be honest... 'fun' powers.

I fit flight in, and most of the primaries from fire and he's got a good balance of single target, and AoE. The Ice secondary has very few powers I'm taking but the ones I am using are vital so I see why his combo works now.

Now that I'm hitting the late 20's I have to kind of change the focus to building some income. On that matter.....

Let me first say that my scrapper does indeed seem to earn a LOT easier than my blaster. Some of you are questioning that, but I have to say my blaster doesn't really get any drops, has very few merits, and in the same time my Scrapper had made a lot more influence which he promptly blew on I/O's.

So now I ask the blaster community what is the easiest way to fund a blaster in game (without loopholes.. no powerleveling, or stuff of that nature).

So far I think my income has been very low because I team 95% of the time with this guy. He just works so well on a team, but I'm slowly realizing that's probably why he's broke.

I don't feel confident soloing...but I'm starting to think maybe my best bet is to do a flashback arch or story and I was wondering if you guys had a recommendation along that line?

Maybe a 'blaster' friendly story arch flashback with decent merit reward?

I have a Sonic/Mental and a Radiation/Energy.

My Sonic/Mental was made for steady ST and AoE damage with control, spike, and survival thrown in. My build has 3 ST attacks, 3 cone attacks, a very effective cone sleep, 2 PBAoEs, stacking stuns, a Confuse Aura, and can debuff both Recharge speed and resistance. The spike is Mind Probe, which is a fast melee attack which takes a big chunk out of enemy health, and Drain Psyche is a huge boon to survival. I fire off Siren's Song, saunter into the middle of a group, then Fire off Drain Psyche and Psychic Scream. Then I use Combat jumping to hop out of the middle of the group and hammer them with ST and Cone Attacks. Very safe solo, and very fun on teams.

My Rad/Energy is more about pure damage. I use its AoEs along with its built-in defense debuff to make them easier to hit, and then open up in melee. It's riskier, but still fun when things drop.

Too many alts to list.

I dont think you should look for an FoTM build. Find something thats fun that you enjoy playing. That will allow to level quickly because you will play it more. There are many blaster combos that will suffice and I dont think any one is better than the other.

Blasters I have at 50

Nrg/Nrg
Fire/Mental
Arch/Devices
Elec/Elec
Rad/Mental
AR/Nrg

All fun.. all can solo and team..
I want to point out the last option posted above... I'm in the midst of levelling an AR/Energy blaster, and he really is top notch. If they manage to get in close, they're in for a rude awakening... I play him as a blapper, much like my Elec/Elec. I cant wait until I get high enough for Boost Range, and then unload with a Full Auto shot. Extended range on cones rock.

I put together a build in Mids, to get some feedback, but this probably isnt the best place to post it. I'll make a new post about it.
