Merry Christmas and friendly hugs to ALL my fellow prorector
Glad I can provide some entertainment. Hopefully, the third act will have a happy ending.
Here's a picture of how my day started. Now.. some of you from the north may not be very impressed by this... I'll just say that here in Oklahoma, we get very excited if we get enough snow at one time to ACTUALLY cover the ground.
/hugs Sooner.
i bet you will never dream of a White Christmas anymore

That sounds about as fun as what happened to me yesterday and today;
Here in Tulsa we got hit just as bad. I was driving out in the Blizzard with the wife and kids heading home; normally a 15 minute drive. 2 hours, 58 wrecks, 37 stalled cars, 6 abandoned cars, 1 overturned sander truck, and the idiots that drove like it was normal driving conditions later. We made it home and promply relieved our bowls. My garage door was frozen solid and we had 5 inches of snow in the driveway. About an hour after that we had the door open and the car inside. But the garage door refrose in the morning, plus new snow, had me working yet another hour just to get the car out of the garage, just to pick up my daughter from the ex-wifes place.
Those numbers are not made up, my wife kept track of everything we saw.
So driving to her home, I come to a road that has a lot of hills, I pick up speed to make the final hill, but as I'm cresting a small hill that leads to the big one, I see a small car slip on the hill and doing 360's, heading downhill in my direction. I was lucky that there was no one behind me. So in about 3 seconds, and on an icey road, I do an amazing 3 point turn, start heading onto uncoming traffic myself and get my *** to the correct side of the road; all in front of a police office that I had not seen.
The police officer seemed to be more concerned about the driver that had, miraculously stopped his car, without flipping it, than my creative driving. So I got off that street and went about another mile out of my way. And thus ends my excitment for christmas.
So, Merry Christmas to all, and may there never, ever be another white Christmas as long as I live in Oklahoma.
Glad your ok Sooner.
Merry christmas everyone.

Holy cow... I'm SO glad I a) don't live in snowy areas, and b) don't have to drive in it. Wow.

The snow hit us last weekend, and none of us had anywhere to go for like two days, so we were all fine.
Still, this was like, the first Christmas in forty years where there was snow on the ground in our area (making it the first white Christmas I've ever seen).
Good luck getting home. Sooner, rather than later.
Happy Holidays everyone! And safe travels.
Sooner, how goes the day? Headed to your parents now? Or home? Or still vegging in front of the XBox?
Jeriko, glad everything worked out safely for y'all too!
I just checked the Oklahoma Dept of Public Safety road conditions website, and its still showing slick and hazardous conditions for most of my trip... either home or to my parents.
I'll check it again closer to checkout time and if its still bad, I'm campin out here with my xbox another night. I've got dents on my jeep, possibly more severe "internal" damage, and I'm done with sliding off the road.
All I have to say about snow, I'll sum up in two different parts:
1) I hate snow.
2) I hate people that act like they can drive as if the conditions are normal.
That is all.
OK... I'm digging out of my bunker here at Super 8 and seeing if I can get me, my dog, my jeep, and my Xbox home.
Yes and above all else, protect that xbox! JK.. Stay safe and if it stays bad, find then next Super 8, 3 miles up the road and stay again.
