Unless of course your friends use the transfer to go to another server hehe

Sorry couldnt resis

I might transfer one or two defiant characters over to union but thats it

I hope the former, but i fear the latter. We shall see...
As a fellow Triumphant, I think our "little" server will only gain more players since it seems that Triumph players are a pretty weird lot and don't really travel well . Seriously, I find that we over on Triumph a pretty loyal lot to our server and once people start playing there they generally stick around. The only reason I see people moving alts off of Tri is to make room for new alts for the GR release.

I tend to think so too. I'm kicking the idea around of moving a few 50's i don't play to more populated servers... just to see what they'er like... maybe make some room, and open up my options, but at the end of the day, i prolly won't. *shrug* I like Triumph. I'll move when they MOVE me. And they'd best let meh keep my names... or there'll be hell to pay i tell you... O.o

Yeah I see that also, I know a few player that started rolling alts on our server to get away from the "big" servers. They have fun, a good laugh, and really enjoy the community since, we are all so friendly....well except Karl he bites .

The worst thing here is not that they wont let you transfer from euro to us servers...

The worst thing here is not the obvious impending doom this foreshadows...

No... the worst here is that we can't copy our beta level bumped characters to the live servers!!!

In all seriousness: bye bye Triumph, hello Virtue!!!

I'm not allowed to leave Triumph on account of the pending court cases.

You seem a bit confused.

You can have a maximum of 6 transfers PER WEEK, until the end of January.

When you transfer, you MIGHT lose your name on the server you just left and it MAY OR MAY NOT be available on your destination server. (You should check in advance.)

You lose NOTHING ELSE. If you're in an SG, you will leave it behind, but it was never one of your possessions. Any prestige stays with the SG, but it wasn't yours - it belonged to the SG the second you earned it. Anything in base storage stays there, because it isn't your possession any longer. Anything ON YOUR PERSON or IN THE AUCTION HOUSE will go with you. For any other details, read here.

EU and NA customers are receiving exactly the same benefit.

Not that I agree with the OP, but this is equivalent to Obama giving everyone in the world a Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen DVD for the holidays. Sure, everyone gets the same gift, but it's sort of useless to those without a DVD player.

When I first heard/read about it, I must admit... I did become a bit cynical (like Scarlet Shocker).
As we on Europe will not have "that" much use for it, or thoughts of doom etc.. (gah.. don't want to go there!)
But, it is a nice feature (free server transfer).. so good for you on the NA servers.
Although what I'd really like... was merge server lists. Then we'd be talking (not to mention alot of new character slots for everyone... ok mostly for europe, but for Everyone).
...
....
Although I do wonder what would happen to the servers community (different social rules etc)...

Hmm... move a few less used alts to Defiant... hmm *ponder*

Oh yes.. and since GG began rolling the ball.
Welcome all Defiant players to Union, We got your Free cookies here, nice and dark, filled with chocolate goodness and best of all; many of them.

I think what the OP is trying to say that that being on the EU servers (of which there are 4, two of which are non-English), it has reduced choice if and when it decides to make use of a free transfer. The free transfers seem a lot more limited here compared to the US which has... how many servers, all English language?

Personally, I couldn't give a flying flip, myself.

However in failing to do that it's another case of blatant favouritism I'm sad to say.
Blatant favouritism would be giving us EU players naff all, not failing to realise how much some people can bite the hand that feeds them, for want of a better metaphor.

Thanks for at least spotting the sub-text of what I was trying to point out.

And naturally the proper response, if you can't use said gift is to spit in the gifter's face and claim they have ulterior motives for giving you something.

Not to mention they'd have to be region specific DVDs, which is kind of appropriate if you think about it.

My relationship with Paragon Studios is purely business. I love the game, but I owe them no debt of gratitude or familial kindness. If they tick me off I reserve the right to express that - and I will attempt to do so, within the rules of their own making.

I do not see this as a "gift" in the traditional sense. I actually see it as an insidious attempt to cull certain server numbers and make us smile while it happens. The net result is there will be fewer servers when Going Rogue goes live which will give an artificial sense of population.

Thank you, TheOcho, and thanks to the Mods, and the Community Reps, and thanks to the Devs, and to Paragon Studios, and NCsoft for this holiday gift.

I personally can't think of a character that I'd be using this on, but I appreciate the thought behind it.

Just realize that there are people that have to invent s*** to b**** about.

I would hope they'd have more sense than to sound the death knell of any MMO (servers being cut) just when they're trying to get people to invest in GR.

I personally suspect this is some kind of stress test; either the going rogue process shares some of the tech used by the server transfer system and they want to see how it works under truely stressful conditions or else they're planning on merging the server lists in the near/distant future and again they want to stress test the system.

Whatever the reason (simple generosity probably being most likely) and in spite of the fact that I'll most likely not swap any characters from Defiant to Union or the reverse I'd still like to thank the devs for doing this.

MAN! I am TOTALLY happy about this. I was JUST this past Saturday saying that I'd love a group discount for server transfers. Ya see, back in the day, before extra character slots, in order to have room, I made all my villains on Protector and all my heroes on Pinnacle. I have been wanting to make a mass move for some time now. I dont have room to move them all., because I have 44 characters across my Pinnacle and Protector account. But dang, now its free.

Sure, I have to buy slots so I have room to move them TO, but thats great for COH, because I'm spending maybe 40 bucks for 10 new slots, whereas I wouldnt have spent any before. And now, I can move 10 characters for 40 bucks (cost of buying 10 slots) instead of 140 bucks (cost of 10 slots and 10 transfers).

Thanks Devs, and TPTB! Good times!

Lewis
