Lack of Fairly Normal IOs

I'm personally trying to get a Celerity or Unhindered Leap +Stealth. Some of these are showing dates in 2008 as one in the five. It's just a Celerity Stealth. I sold a level 50 a few weeks ago.

But what I'm looking at is something in the 20s.

I've started just filling all my WW slots with bids on the recipes and crafted before I log out.

Do the devs just decide that the drop rate on these things should dry up? Do they hate these enh?

And how do these pie-in-the-sky Fire/Kin babies's builds get made? Hell, every one has five LotG +7.5.

So, I guess my real question, rather than just a rant, is how do people get these things that just aren't on the market? Or do they?

Merit purchases, most likely. Outright buying a recipe gives you the choice of level. It'd be nice if the level slider worked for random rolls too. I'm suffering similar issues filling out some Kinetic Combats on a character.

As far as drops go, the trouble is that so little time is spent in that level range that there's not a lot of opportunity for those sort of goodies to drop, whereas at 50 you have all the time in the world.

No, they adjusted drop rates based on player feedback. As much as a few people really want a +Stealth, there were an army of people who were sick of getting one when they really wanted a Decimation, Mako's Bite or an Obliteration.

Then they made it easier to level. Then they accidentally unleashed the PL tool to master all PL tools on the multiverse (but they did mostly put it back down again). Then they did various things that made it increasingly attractive to play at 50, and less inconvenient to go to 50 and then backtrack to missed content.

So we got a lower drop rate on something that people spend less time producing in non-50 level ranges.

They either slot level 50s or they buy them with merits. I don't have a Fire/Kin, but I still use a lot of LotG:Recharges. I buy level 25s, personally, and the price tag on those sometimes means I buy mine with merits. The level 25s that are out there are almost certainly being produced via direct merit purchases.

For non-level 50s, merits is probably the way to go.

Before merits, if I ran the Posi TF with a level 23 I would get a level 23 recipe drop at the end. No ifs, buts or choices.

Since merits came along that level 23, whilst getting enough merits to have 3 random rolls from Posi, they are more likely to save them until later and roll at a higher level.

There is a distinct element of 'buildpr0n' on the forums. Just because you see these builds posted, it doesn't mean that 1) anyone actually has them, or 2) they are attainable.

The Min/Max portion of the game population is heavily over-represented in builds posted. I mean why would people even ask for a SO fire/kin build ? its so easy to put one togther.

First foodpr0n, now this. I suppose that's why I pull up my permadom build and just stare at the screen...

I looked into it and merits it is. I think I'll do some TFs and when I hit 25 do some Flashback, which I'd never read about and sounds cool.

I looked at that thread from a week ago but didn't remember it when I posted.

Thanks everybody.

I do a lot of business in low level stealth IOs.
Supply isn't gigantic, but it's enough to keep me interested.

My advice is put up reasonable bids across a range of levels up to your limit and you'll have your recipe in relatively short order.

I put in 19 bids across two characters before I logged.

I'm covering the crafted more since I think someone who gets this, usually with Merits, would think they could get some cash off it. Which they can. Mine.

I'm hoping the higher level one dosn't get it as I'm not sure how she'll hand it to the lower level toon. Though the SG...but I'm not sure on the permissions for the racks.

No matter which server, if you need someone to hold it for a few, whilst you switch I would be happy to offer myself.

@catwhoorg in game.

Depending on circumstances, I'll take you up on that.

Thanks.

I have some recipes in the teens. If the dancing feline can't set you up, I'll see if I can help out. I think all my holdings are on Freedom, maybe a few on Champion, but we should be able to work something out.

The hoorg was going to hold while I logged the new toon.

If you've got a Celerity or Unbound Leap +Stealth I am interested. I'm on Freedom. Even if it's on another I'll transfer a toon over and then back. I have three of my transfers for the week left.

Yesterday one actually sold, a 25 pre-crafted, for less than I had bid on all the others I'd tried to cover.

If I keep up this strategy I need to hold off, triple my cash, and cover every instance. It would take four of my toons to get them all covered.

Doh! I overloooked that the free transfers create a oppurtunity for corss server direct trading.

I have plen ty of merits on Triumph and could do a direct buy at whatever level, then meet and direct trade, if Ragman cant hook you up form his stock.

I don't really think that low level Celerity and Unbounded Leap + Stealth are by definition "Fairly Normal IO's". I would consider Level 35 Pool A's and B's as "Fairly Common IO's".

I think that they are rare (pool C) and in a located in a range (low-level) that has a TON of useless rolls if someone were to go the "random merit roll route".

The only way for a guarentee is if someone spends 200 merits on a level 15 Celerity +Stealth, that shouldn't be cheap. If you could speed Posi's and other TF's that time investment is at least 3-4 hours (on a good day).

Curious to see what you think a fair price for a low level stealth IO?

I have to say I am guilty of letting the pre-32 market dry up, most of the time my merits will be gathered up until I reach lvl 32 and can roll across the 35-39 pool (Random is my madness).

I have enough LoTG +7.5 to cover my next 2 toons that I am leveling.

NOTE: My prices are totally wrong. The prices are oddly cheap for things that don't come on the market with nothing really higher than 50m.

There's a massive spike at 15. The crafted and recipes are generally the same price for the same level. The normal small peaks are present at the five level intervals and 50s cost slightly more but the inventory moves faster.

And you have to bear in mind the total rarity of these things when you take into account the, what I feel are totally reasonable prices.

15 = about 110m to 250m
Others = 20m to 50m
50 = about 100m

Unbounded Leap sometimes drops to 10m, even though it only sells every two weeks or so and there are 10+ bidders. Celerity generally runs about 20m higher.

This is all "if memory serves."

I find it acceptable to pay 200 million less and not be able to use it until level 13 instead of 12.

Just as an aside, if you are wanting "just" the +stealth IO and the character it is going in is 50, just grab a 50 (or easiest to attain). The +stealth uniques work at ANY level. Certain uniques like it do not follow the -3 level rule.

Disregard this if there are other factors involved.

*EDIT* It looks like this is a newer character since you talk about getting to 25 for flashback, so yeah, slotting a level 50 +stealth obviously won't work. But the info may still be useful to you if you weren't already aware.

If you're paying $200 million I'll get ya one . I don't think that they are even going for anywhere near that price, which might be high, but $50 million for a lowbie one seems totally fair.

p.s. re-read my last post, sounded a bit snarky, sorry about that.

I'm off next week also but I'm not planning on being awake in the AM. I got Rabbit Ghost to 13 last night but, uh, I'm already sick of WL. And after we went on those BNY's, it was odd that the next team I was on, which looked like a good one, had two team wipes. Fast tank + too high difficulty = debt and not a lot of xp really.

While I might be totally invisible, I'm not Superior Invisibility clear. Though it's cool to be see through without an aura. I'm guessing the dust kicking up when I move, even swivel, is something to kind of nerf it in PVP, which I don't object to.
