question about secondaries

Hi, I'm Radubadu and... I'm an altoholic...

I realize that this is a question that could be asked for any AT but as I mostly play blasters I thought I'd post it here. Do the secondaries vary gameplay to the point that playing the same primary set doesn't get stale?

I thought about this playing my AR/EN last night. I love fire/fire (as can be seen in another thread I started lol) but I would love to have some of the knockback stuff that /EN gets on my Fire blaster.

Usually playing one of the following toons blueside on Virtue:
Cadler 50 WP/SS tanker
Radubadu 46 Fire/Fire blaster
Hell Runner 35 Fire/Fire brute

My Fire/Dev and my Fire/Ice are totally different. Though my AR/NRG and AR/Dev are very similar during team play but vastly different solo.

And AR/Dev was brilliant during ToT. Tripmines FTW.

Yea, my energy/dev always has an incredibly easy time ToTing.

Seconded. Drop a pair of tripmines, knock, and collect the reward.

Fire/EN will play differently from Fire/Fire.

Fire/Fire's only mitigation is to kill it quick, and you are up the proverbial creek without a paddle if something doesn't fall as fast as you need it to.

Fire/EN has the lovely option of knocking it away and on its back to give you a moment to catch your breath (literally, perhaps, pop a blue skittle).

I have one of each in the mid-20s, and the pacing is somewhat different because of this difference in mitigation.

But my favorite Fire Blaster is my Fire/Ice, currently 38ish. Lay down a slip'n'fall (Ice Patch) then Rain Fire down upon them - makes me giggle. Sha plays differently than either of the 2 above.

To answer the larger question about whether a secondary makes a difference when playing the same primary - the answer is probably a wishy-washy "it depends".
