The - res from each attack is really low. It's further diminished with DR. Unless you stack the entire attack chain on your target, the - res isn't going to be that noticeable. By the time you land a full attack chain with a sonic blaster your target should definitely evaded/phased.

Eh...it only takes like 5 seconds for a "full" attack chain. Meaning screech, shriek, scream, shriek. At that point, the target's res is pretty significantly debuffed. If you hit them with shout at this point, it'll do quite a lot more than normal.

Of course it's not something to build a big team strategy around, as there are far better ways of getting -res on targets, but it does help, especially in 1v1 or small matches.

Sonic is horrible for 1 v 1 and small matches.

Um, no.

this is how we will do it. select a rep for each blaster type and have them beat snax. we will rank each powerset by how badly they beat him.

Sounds like a plan! I nominate macskull to represent AR.

Only 5? The target should realize he is being spiked before the first attack hits. 5 seconds is way more than enough time to hiber/evade.

Sorry, I don't play in arena anymore, so I'm not aware of all the specific rules and regulations that are currently used. I play in zones, where there is no such thing as evasion. If you start getting attacked by a blaster, you have ONE option: to phase or hibernate. And yes, 5 seconds is enough obviously, but most people wouldn't immediately phase just from having 1 blaster hit them with like 2 attacks.

Anyway, why am I even defending sonic? I'm the oldest FIRE blaster left in PvP. Epsilon, I'm not gonna do your job for you anymore!

HAY NOA SUN, I'm busy eating doritos.

Not sure the exact DR curvicals, but by my thoughts, assuming its a toon with JUST pvp base resist in zones, which is, I tink 30% resist to all. Sonic blasts do -13% resist.

After factoring in three sonic attacks, shriek+scream+shriek, the targets resist is floored.
0: 30
1: 20.9
2: 10.6
3: -1

If assuming, 40% resist to all.

0:40
1:32.2
2:25.4
3:13.7

In which, factored into the equations looks like this.

(Assuming 3 attacks launched prior)
Base-30% Resist-40% Resist

Shriek-93-93-80
Scream-139-139-120

Flares-110-77-66
Fire Blast-133-93-80

Just a simple comparison, but its the only perk sonic has over the rest of the sets.

FYI 0% resistance isn't floored... the floor is -300% but realistically you'll never see that (you might've seen numbers like -50% or something under the old rules when Enervating Field wasn't resisted and you had multiple Rads on a target, but other than that, not really).

-150% is the lowest i've seen. beastly meltdown vs. ujl practice when meltdown ran a cold, 2 therms, a rad and a poison.

i was in phase, on a sonic looking at my numbers, pooping on myself.
