INV/EM PvE (need some power choice advice)
Do you *need* ResEn and Hasten? Well, no, I'm sure you'll do fine without them. However, I think most players who are going for a soft-capped def build do not take the Medicine Pool. For one thing, it's hard to fit in, and for another, you probably won't need it as much if you're building for high defense.
ResEn and Hasten are good choices if you're thinking of dropping Aid Self, since ResEn will give you a little more damage mitigation and Hasten will bring DP up sooner. If you are serious about soft-capping, I personally think ResEn and Hasten are a better choice, but either will work.
Regarding the posted build, keep in mind that you should be focusing on typed def, not positional def. Touch of Death and Multi Strike are both primarily positional def sets, which means that you get a small amount of usable def for a big investment of slots. Multi Strike in particular, gives very small typed def bonuses, so I think you'd be better off swapping three of those slots out for Eradication, which has a substantial E/NE def bonus.
Here's my Invul/EM build as a example, which is soft-capped for S/L and nearly so for E/NE. Hitting the soft-cap will be even easier for you if you take CJ, which is worth around 3% defense.

Thx for the advice. I'm not gonna reach the numbers that you have by just a few % due to different power choices, but I at least feel a lil better about my energy resists. DP is almost perma now too, so that is another bonus. Thx again.

In my experience playing a soft capped Invuln the medicine pool isn't necessary; the few situations where it might be useful are easily covered by the occasional inspiration.
Res Energies is useful, as much for the resistance to end drain as the energy resistance; I generally toss it in at 49.
Were you intentionally skipping a travel power? Also, I'd consider replacing the ToD set in Bone Smasher; it's melee defense primarily and you're really looking for typed defense. It's also pretty pricey.
Personally I think Dull Pain can easily do without that last recharge, that slot might be more useful somewhere else. It's only saving you 12 seconds and I've found DP isn't needed more than once a mission on average with a soft capped build. Heck, it's only against really tough things that I need it at all... most missions don't move my HP bar more than 5-10%.
I'd slot a pair of Blessing of the Zephyr into CJ (and SJ as well if you get it) for the Ranged/E/N defense; your E/N def is fairly low.
I'd suggest dropping the Med pool, snagging SJ and a doing bit of reslotting. My personal opinion is that Build Up is skippable, but I know other players swear by it... I tend to more swear AT it myself.
Currently you're over the soft cap for S/L defense but considerably short of it in E/N/F/C... think about boosting the E/N portion a bit.
COH has just been murdered by NCSoft. http://www.change.org/petitions/ncso...city-of-heroes
The build looks okay overall, but what's it for? Let me use my inv/EM as an example of what I mean. My guy is built for team/extreme tanking and damage output is secondary. He has all 9 powers from the primary, Tough and Aid Self. To balance that, he has only 5 powers from the secondary (I didn't take Build Up or Energy Transfer). When I IO'ed him, I went for +regen (and got 300%). Since IO'ing, I have not used Aid Self at all except during the STF. All other content simply has not required it.
My point is, when I build a tank, I decide if the focus will be on damage output or survival. You can do both simultaneously, but not well.
P.S. I don't see much point to Hasten unless it's to boost DPS. Taking it just for Dull Pain seems like overkill.

I agree it would help if the OP was more clear about his goal for this build, but he doesn't have give up damage for survivability. I know I don't with my tanks.
And just to clarify, I never suggested that the only reason one would want to take Hasten is for DP; I happen to think that boosting DPS is a quite reasonable goal--which is why I usually take both Build Up and Hasten on my tanks. But having DP available sooner is also useful, especially if since the OP is considering giving up Aid Self to get it.

Sorry about the lack of info. I guess I don't have the mind of a tank just yet (troller in the brain) when posting to the forums. The reason I made this tank was to be a meat shield for some sg buddies a few months ago. But I grew tired of nothing but AE missions and left to wait out the AE craze. Came back and wanted to finish up where I left off. I want to be able to do decent dmg as well so I can't see myself dropping BU. I didn't initially take a travel power since I just got the ninja run power and thought that'd be enough. I made adjustments according to all the advice I've recieved (I think) about this topic and the below build will hopefully reflect it. Again. Thanks alot for the advice/responses.

Nice build! Your E/NE and F/C def totals have certainly improved over the last one you posted. A couple of things:
IMO, the Aegis Psi/Status is a waste of infl for a Invul tank. Going from 0 to 3% Psi resist is basically doing nothing for you, and UY gives you all the status protection you need for almost everything in PVE. You'd be better off slotting the Aegis Res/Recharge instead.
Also, I believe the current consensus is you would be better off with some or all of the +regen/+recovery uniques in Physical Perfection rather than Health, but I haven't used PP myself so maybe someone can confirm that.
Good luck with your tank!

Decided to look a lil bit further into the tanker forums for this build and came across a fully soft capped inv/dm (s/l, e/ne, f/c) but for the life of me can't remember where I saw it or who it was. But I did however export it to mids. Since mine was inv/eneme, I fooled around with it to get similar numbers.
Below is the build. Looks pricey. More so than just soft capped s/l and e/ne. I haven't quite got it soft capped like the inv/dm did, but it's very close. I take no credit for this what so ever and would love to know who's build it is so I can give proper thanks. I plan on attempting to make this build (yes, I know that fire and cold are less used) even though I know it could take along time. Thanks again to all previous advice.

Personally, there's no way soft-capping F/C is worth spending that much influence on otherwise useless IOs. But if you've got the influence and are determined to do it, good luck to you!

Merits would be good for getting that -kb BotZ. Did that recently on my Dark/Dark. But really, Invul. doesn't need it.
Also, you might want to get Invincibility earlier in the build. Waiting till level 30 is awfully late to be getting it.

Beware the Woods at Night.
Miles to go and Skies to Fly!
Also, you might want to get Invincibility earlier in the build. Waiting till level 30 is awfully late to be getting it.

You're building for defense, the last thing you want to do is delay your primary defense power!

This is my 1st tank to 50 that I've decided to try and io out and I've run into a small problem I think. I currently don't have resist energies or hasten but I think I need them. It feels weird making a build w/o hasten and my energy resists is obviously lacking since I don't have RE in there. In their place I have taken stimulant and aid self. Figured w/o hasten and DP takeing 160+secs to rchg, I could use aid self since it will be up every 10 secs. Now, I have not tested the proposed build yet so I can't tell whether or not I'd miss them. I just fooled around on mids after hitting 50 to see what I could shoot for. I also decided to take the energy mastery ancillary powers of conserve power and physical perfection to help minimize the end useage. So, to make this long story short, do I need resist energies and hasten instead of heal self? Are my power choices overall good choices or should I be takeing something else? Below is the proposed build.
