It's not a game issue. If it were a lot more people would be complaining.
  • Check with your ISP.
  • Try a traceroute to the COH servers.
  • Do a constant ping to some site like www.yahoo.com and see if you're getting packet loss.
At the very least your ISP should be able to tell you if your cable modem is running up to snuff (I'm assuming you're using a cable modem).
  • Try changing the coax.
  • Remove any splits between your cable modem and the wall.
  • etc etc.
I've had my fair share of issues that were not related to the game.

You can also try both east coast and west coast servers to see if there is a difference. If you play other online games, do you get similar lag? You can also try connecting your computer directly to the modem by a cable. And also some standard things like virus check.

Definitely NETWORK related - those red spikes are dropped packets.

How do you connect your computer to your Internet gateway device? what is it (cable/DSL/wireless/satellite/dialup)?

If your Internet provider has a "network diagnostic" application, run it, and see how many errors or problems it kicks back. If you don't have one, then you can do some basic testing at BroadbandReports.com >> http://www.dslreports.com/linequality

Try and reboot your network environment, ie routers and cable/dsl modems.

There are times when serious loads on the equipment can leave gear in a state that is a bit confused, especially when having used bittorrent etc.

I've had issues where CoX was laggy when everything else seemed unaffected until I had done a reboot of the network gear.

See people are going to blame you and your system. It may be some arcane mixture of settings that you have never tried yet. But you see ITS THE GAME.

Repeatedly people come in here and say I am having this and this happen for the first time ever..........but its obviously their own fault.

In 2 separate teams the other day we all were mapservered at least once, we all get the 70+ fps that drops to 1 fps, randomly. But I understand according to NCSoft itself only about 4% of the people post on the forums.

Them not posting they are struggling means nothing, many just quit when its no longer fun. I refuse to accept that a system that was playing flawlessly prior to Issue 17 is suddenly so infested with driver, spyware and network issues and that all of it hit the exact day I17 went live.

It is the game.

You might have noticed that the OP is 7 month old - so a bit before I17
