When i saw the title, i instantly thought, ElM is good for Aoe damage, so if that can be buffed then groups can be mashed down before enough damage to endanger you is taken =)
So i would say Kinetics, that way when you get fullcrum shift, you can both run into a giant 8 man mob and fulcrum them, then AoE bust them and they'll be down in seconds, which would give mountains of exp and infamy as well as being an absolute thrill =)
Going for a defense based set would kinda be pointless concidering WP has regen, defense and resistance, and with decent IOing can be an abslute monster in the defensive field. Therefore debuff is by far your best option, and the -damage and rech from kinetics works nicely with WP's regen.
If you chose a defender, you could go with a secondry that would give you support on enemies resistant of defensive against energy, you would also get stronger debuffs from attacks but which would be best would need some research into the general other resistances coupled with energy (i'm pretty sure dark would be good). Furthermore the added buff and buff primary would mean stronger +dam from fulcrum and siphon power, and they would be avaliable earlier which makes them very tasty.
So a Kinetics/Dark defender is what i would suggest.
Kin. Although, the empathy buffs are nice, speed boost and fulcrum shift buffing up Lightning Rod's damage and recharged is a beautiful thing.
I have an Illusion/kin troller. Great combo and very active. Just watch your end bar before transference.

A cold domination toon is the perfect complement IMO.
* Shields stack nicely with WP defenses. The shields are positional and typed.
* Hoarfrost gives your wife even more hitpoints.
* Sleet means that stuff dies quickly to electric melee AOEs
* Heat Loss means neither you or your wife runs out of end
* Cold debuffs means that there isn't much short of GMs and uber AVs (Recluse, Statesman, Reichsman) that can stand against the two of you.
I think your only real decision is to decide on what to pair it with. Some choices:
Cold/Sonic Defender - sonic blasts have good damage for a defender and very nice -res debuffs
Ill/Cold Controller - You'll be playing more support this way but you can lay down debuffs in the safety of superior invisibility. Take recall and the two of you can easily stealth any boss kill mission. Deceive, phantom army and spectral terror add considerably to your tool set.
Earth/Cold Controller - So much control and debuff it isn't funny. Stuff will be held, slowed, debuffed for -res and -def.
I think some good non-cold domination choices include:
* Dark/Sonic Defender - huge heals, good area -res, darkest night synergizes with WP defenses, AoE fear and a good pet
* Sonic/AR Defender - sonic debuff toggle + electric AoEs = yum, shields and AoEs
* Plant/Kin Controller - Seeds! Carrion Creepers, lots of area effects and good damage, plus fulcrum, transference and tranfusion
* Ice/Storm Controller - everything is slowed to a crawl and frozen in blocks of ice; either that or it's flopping on a big sheet of ice.

Well I have already played two Kinetics to level 50 ... I could make another one i guess since they are very sweet paired with a scrapper lol.
Does Fulcrum Shift apply to Carrion Creepers? That might make a Plant/Kin more interesting...
With Empathy though I was thinking of how nice a power boosted Fortitude plus Adrenalin Boost to really push her into the unkillable levels lol
Course I am seeing the benefits in playing a Defender and getting all the powers much earlier .... grrr this is a hard desicion lol

Hey guys,
My wife is just coming back to the game after a long absence and after several hours on the character creator screen she settled on a Elec/WP scrapper and I am inquiring about what would be good to make as a partner for her.
I was thinking something Controller or Defender flavored with a good coverage on protecting her and dishing out some of my own damage.
What AT would you want running behind you buffing you if you were an Elec/WP scrapper? lol
So far I have thought an Illusion/Empathy controller would be fun for me to play and lend powerful abilities to her and I leveling fast and taking on big groups
Any suggestions?
