Level 51-53 recipes

In WW, there are 51-53 leveled recipe sets, but it's not possible to get them. And even if they were, they offer the exact same numbers at the level 50 as indicated by comparing the level 50 recipes to the 53 recipes...so my question is, since you can't get them, why are they there, and why would anyone worry with them if they offer no difference than the 50s?

IOs cap at 50.
HO/SO/DO/TOs can go to 53.

Id imagine it was easier to just code a single level cap for everything than to try to apply a different level cap for IOs vs HO/SO/DO/TO.

(added HO to the list)

The main use people have found for those recipes is as an influence bank. Each character has a cap of 2 billion influence, but by bidding a billion influence on a 51-53 recipe that never drops, they can store that money away knowing that it will never actually buy anything, and go way way past the cap.

This^^^. Probably not what they were designed for. Sort the interface to show only recipes bidding, and take a look. Pretty much all of those bids represent stored influence, up to two billion at a time.

IIRC, lv53 IOs existed during beta, but the ability for them to drop never made it to the live servers, and the devs never bother to remove their existence from the game database.

And a Dev decision (or accident) to add level 53 IOs can wipe out your billions. Or, a Dev decision (or accident) to remove the level 53 IOs completely from the database can also cause you to lose billions, and most likely corrupt your toon (it's happened).

And they'd be no recourse to get the billions back if you're not using the game as intended, and the usual arguments in these cases that if you can do it, then it's supported, will still fail to hold water.

That'd be funny. Or, let a 53 drop and someone get paid, lol.

If it was a dev decision done on purpose it would go through test before it hit live and im pretty sure someone would notice it either by way of patch notes or just by testing and then word would get out. Other then that you are completely correct though

I can please only one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow isn't looking good, either.

True, true. But some patches are on Test for less than a week. And if you're away for two weeks...

I have had several periods of away time from the game, and it is true--a quick patch could change this pretty fast. Seeing as all this was reported to the dev's back in beta, and that they've openly stated that this is not what the market was intended for, they seem well aware that it is happening. I'd like to think that they would be smart enough to give us fair warning beforehand. Or at least, a suitable alternative. Heck, if I could just easily move stuff around, I certainly wouldn't be using the market to hold stuff.

don't complain about the devs in this game you COULD be playing swg where the devs don't give a rats fart about the player base. also not to mention the fact that there are still bugs in the game from day 1, 6+ years ago.

I who what?

It's just easier for me to keep the inf. in the CH, then have friends assist me in shuffling it around to different characters. If an imminent patch changed things, I'd just have to get some help and roll up some new dummy characters. Not a problem, just an inconvenience.

I'd be pretty unhappy if they changed it. I only have 3 characters, which isn't nearly enough to store all my inf. (And I don't want to make dummy inf holders as I like only having characters I actually play)
