Bind help please

I have many binds setup, but I am trying to figure one out one in particular and I don't know if it is possible? What I am wanting to do is make a bind to target all of my pets by name and then cast fire shield on them. Each pet has a different name so I want something like petcom_name powexec fire shield or something? Anyone know exactly what it would be and if it is even possible? Is there even a /tar name type command?

example:

I press shift+1 and I target bot1 and cast fire shield on him
I press shift+2 and I target bot2 and cast fire shield on him

You want the "/petselect #" command:

/petselect 0 targets the top pet in your list

So to make the bind you suggest it would be:

/bind shift+1 "petselect 0$$powexecname fire shield"
/bind shift+2 "petselect 1$$powexecname fire shield"
...
/bind shift+6 "petselect 5$$powexecname fire shield"

If you want to use the numpad it would be

/bind shift+numpad1 "petselect 0$$powexecname fire shield"

NOW
The problem is that occasionally the target isn't registered fast enough for it to change before you cast the buff. So you end up double buffing some targets and missing others. Might I suggest that you do it with TWO keypresses.

/bind shift+numpad1 "petselect 0"
/bind add "powexecname fire shield"
/bind subtract "powexecname plasma shield"

That way you can use the number key to target the pet and the plus key on the number pad to buff him. And when it comes time to cast Plasma Shield you don't need to rebind 6 more keys for your pets. You just bind one more buff key.

Shift+1, plus, minus, shift+2, plus, minus....

It works nicely.

The command you're looking for is:

/bind KEY petselectname BOTNAME

where BOTNAME is the name of the pet you want targeted, and KEY is the key combo to bind to. Section V of the numpad guide linked in my sig has an example of this.

Also, I would keep the buff power bind separate from the targeting bind. That way you can easily target any pet for any purpose, and still have the power available for any purpose as well. Linking them in one command they sometimes won't fire correctly and the bind is less versatile.

Two keybinds is generally going to be better, for the reasons listed above - BUT I still have a target+cast bind set up to heal my pets. I just hold ctrl and tap the number twice. That way, I know it always casts once. Sometimes it will cast and then queue up another, but if I'm in the heat of battle, I'll move on to casting something else immediately after and it won't matter. (And if I'm not in battle, then who cares? My end isn't THAT precious anymore...)

For buffing, I would probably just use two keybinds. It's not quite so time-critical, after all, so it is probably better to be precise.

Incidentally, I use a modified version of Sandolphan's numpad binds (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=117256 - how do you link in the text here?). Mine are set up to target a pet with Alt+that pet's key, and to heal with Ctrl+that pet's key. It is quite convenient.

I'm new-ish. Again.
@Kahzi. Pinnacle, mostly.

Quick Bind Question:

Running a Ninja/Trick Arrow MM, painful I know, and I was wondering if there was a simple bind to send the Genin and Jounin into melee range, while keeping Oni next to me.

I currently use the "goto" pet command and just drag it to my try and hit 8 and place the target and all the Ninjas run into melee.

Thanks in advance.

To command subsets of pets, you use letters in common among the desired powernames that are not shared by the powers you want excluded. For example:

/petcompow C goto

This will send the Genin and Jounin ninjas to the GOTO spot, but will exclude the Oni. The reason is the letter 'C' is shared by both powernames 'Call Genin' and 'Call Jounin' but not the powername 'Oni'.

There is a section in the numpad guide linked in my sig dealing with this exact issue, along with a chart showing all possible combinations (although moving to the new forums messed up the formatting a bit).
