My first tank
Pros:
Really easy to hit the soft cap for Defense to Smashing, Lethal, Energy, and Negative Energy
High Cold Resistance
Good resistance to speed debuffs
A good self heal/+HP power
Great at holding aggro, with two aggro auras, including on auto-hit one that does -Speed, -Recharge, and -DMG to the enemy
A great Tier 9 panic button
Good Mez Protection, with few PvE holes
An endurance recovery power
Cons:
Typed Defense versus positional
Relatively low protection to Fire, though it is respectable
As with most Defense sets, relatively weak in the lower levels, until you get to SOs
Relies a decent amount on Energy Absorption, which doesn't come until level 26
Chilling Embrace can sometimes interfere with herding
No Defense to Psychic or Toxic damage
Defense-based, with little resistance to common damage types (meaning that you'll get hit very little, but when you do, it hurts)
Those are my takes on the set.
Let me never fall into the vulgar mistake of dreaming that I am persecuted whenever I am contradicted.

To the OP: I have a level 50 ice/SS tank and he's great. The first time you encounter Knives of Artemis and they drop overlapping caltrop fields and you walk right through it to wipe the floor with them, you will be thrilled.
Overall, ice is very nice. Sure, you'll get hit a bit, but you have a +HP/heal, a +END power, the best taunt aura in the game and Rage just kicking all your attacks up a notch.
Rage + Footstomp + Icicles + Ice Storm (Arctic Mastery) = utter devastation
I took every power in the primary. I would say Permafrost is the most skippable, but I needed somewhere to put an IO resistance set.
Paragon City Search And Rescue
The Mentor Project
True. However, in my opinion, resistance sets really suck at low levels. My ice tank and my shield tank seemed to have much greater survivability than invuln before SO's.

However I do stand by everybody else, agro great, recovery great (mind you endurance is terrible till nrg absorbtion), the damage is amazeing. If you go the route of some, you can proc chilling embrace with a damage proc and have 1 1/2 agro aura's. However I would suggest pace of turtle 20% chance for -20% recharge in it. the -recharge stacked with the proc would be nice. I know my spines/sr loves it in quills.
I don't have the xp as some other ones, try to seek out gartulus. he is very well versed in ice, for it is his fav if I am not mistaken.
protector-knight: lvl 50 invun/axe tank
Lillian Brick: lvl 50 stone/stone/pyre tank
Hybrid-knight: lvl 50 db/regen scrap
Vengful-Nature: lvl 50 spines/sr/bod scrap
Element-Wizard: lvl 50 fire/storm/stone troll
Great at holding aggro, with two aggro auras, including on auto-hit one that does -Speed, -Recharge, and -DMG to the enemy

I would just like to add, that Chilling embrace is great for inturupting enemies, such as Vaz Embalmed at early levels, sky raider Engineers at mid levels and Rikti communications officers
I generally play controllers but today i decided to make a tank to try something different.
The combo I decided on was Ice/SS. I dont really see to many ice tanks around so what i wanna know is what are the pros and cons of ice armor.
Thanks in advance for the help
