Scrapper AV/EB soloer?
Well, I've seen most Scrapper sets solo AVs no temps, no inspirations. If you're looking for the best combinations, I think right now that would be Dark Melee/Shield Defense if you have an unlimited budget, or Fire Melee/Super Reflexes if you don't have a lot to spend. But plenty of combinations can get the job done with the right build.

The only ones I've not seen samples of yet are elec/?, spines/? and ?/Dark armor ?/Fire /elec it shouldn't be long until someone posts those can be done as well. (all those powersets are geared towards AoE, makes sense to stay away from that for AV fighting)
Most scrappers can do it with builds specifically geared towards AV fighting, some are better than others, it's mainly about what can give the necessary DPS, since nearly
everyone can soft cap.
I've heard Fire/SR should be easiest, but I don't actually ever see examples of fire/ scrappers. That's probably because the AV Soloers out there tend to be 'old school' and have their most expensive projects built before fire was an option.

Awesome, thanks! Really quick replies. Yeah, my friend has a Fire/SR that is pretty good... maybe i'll give that a try.
My Katana/Dark Armor will be able to handle AVs when it's done, though I'm not building it specifically as an AV-soloer. I've also seen a Katana/Fire build that would have been able to handle AVs with minor tweaks. And if Fire could do it, I'm sure Electric Armor could do it. Electrical Melee and Spines can probably put out the DPS necessary, as it isn't all that high. So I'm guessing that just about anything can handle it if built for the job.
Granted, if I was wanting to solo AVs, I would NOT level up a Spines/Fire for the job. But I'm betting there's some build for it that could get the job done, at least on some of the easier AVs. It would just be a silly waste of Spines/Fire's true capabilities.

I would say your best bet is to go for a middle of the road or ST oriented primary set combined with a secondary that has Defense. This gives you a lot of combinations to play with of which some are cheaper to set up than others.
Top primaries:
DM, Katana, Claws in no particular order. DM is probably the best because it gives you the best ST damage with good mitigation (-tohit and a heal). Claws/Katana debate is another thing, if you want more mitigation go for Katana (for Divine Avalanche) and if you want more damage go for Claws (for Follow Up).
Top primaires:
SR, Shield, WP, Invuln. SR is probably the best for a medium budget build because it's easy to soft cap. WP is the second in line for a medium budget build because it comes with good mitigation together with recovery tool, but it will cost more than SR to soft cap. Invuln and Shields are the more expensive ones of which Shields will be the more offensive (+DMG) and Invuln the more defensive (good Resistances).

The easiest/cheapest secondary is SR, without a doubt. You wouldn't even need IO's, but you'd probably need a heal for a lot of the av's you'd be facing. SD is awesome once it's softcapped because of the dmg bonus, and WP is awesome once it's at least near softcapped because it's insane regen eliminates the need for a heal.
As others have said, other scrapper sets can work too, but they're more effective when used vs many enemies. You 'could' tow a boat with a corvette, but you'll usually be better off using a truck. I had a kat/da that could solo most av's, but a lot of the advantages da gives you are wasted in such a build, imo, because that set is designed to be more effective against multiple foes.
I faced Nightstar tonight on my spines/sr. heh I can toe to toe with her for a long time, but I don't have the sustainable DPS it requires. Nightstar is rather weak though. Outlasted the ice/ss tank, and the ma/invun scrap. they logged off about five minutes before I let nightstar kill me
Need more dmg though.
protector-knight: lvl 50 invun/axe tank
Lillian Brick: lvl 50 stone/stone/pyre tank
Hybrid-knight: lvl 50 db/regen scrap
Vengful-Nature: lvl 50 spines/sr/bod scrap
Element-Wizard: lvl 50 fire/storm/stone troll
One thing to remember when going against AVs is to check their resistances. Nightstar, for example, has 50% S/L Res which means you'll need double the DPS with S/L Damage than with other types to beat her regen.
(DPS * [1 - AV_Resistance] - AV_Regen) * Hit_Chance = True_DPS
So, if you have 160 DPS / 95% hit chance with Katana and you go against Nightstar this would work out
(160 * [1 - 0.5] - 90) * 0.95 = -9.5 (AV regen is something around 90HP/sec)
When your True_DPS figure is 0 or in the negative values you aren't doing any progress. If you have a positive value you can calculate your expected time against that AV by dividing their HP with your True_DPS number.
Preferably you want your True_DPS to be at least 50 so that it won't take the rest of your life to solo the AV. With that kind of DPS it should take you around 15 mins to solo an ordinary AV who doesn't pack a heal, -DMG or an annoying mez etc. So:
(DPS * [1 - AV_Res] - AV_Regen) * Hit_Chance = 50
Insert some values here, say AV_Res is 25%, their ordinary regen is about 90 and you have capped hit chance which is 95%.
(DPS * [1 - 0.25] - 90) * 0.95 = 50
DPS * 0.75 - 90 = 50 / 0.95
DPS = ([50 / 0.95] + 90) / 0.75
DPS = 190
You'd need 190 DPS to complete the task in about 15 mins.
I notice I've went a bit on tangent but I consider this useful information and not particularly hard-to-understand information for anyone who wants to solo AVs. If your build can pump out enough DPS on paper go and have a try, but a bit of maths saves you the trouble if you just don't have what it takes.
Just remember, it's not only DPS that counts, but also sustainability and surviving the hits.

Level 50 AVs normally have 28270 hit points, so with a net DPS of 50, it would "only" take you 28270 / 50 = 565.4, or 9 minutes 25.4 seconds. Their regeneration is 5% every 15 seconds, so 28270 * 5% / 15 = 94.23 DPS.

Sort of new to scrappers, but i'm wondering what powersets on scrappers have you seen solo AVs or EBs? Thanks.
