Been gone a while, is Ice/Electric any good?
Well, Ice/ is still Ice/.
/Elec is no worse than any other set, it has mitigation via knockback and the early powers can be slotted with a chance of heal self from the sleep set (sandman).
I don't see anything "wrong" with /Elec melee.
Ice/elec is fun and pretty cool on a small budget. I was happily handling +1x8 solo during the beta on SOs.
Shield/elec may be better if you have the budget to pimp it out, I know it rocks as a scrapper.
I like ice/stone with a medium budget, lots of mitigation from fault and tremor plus unlimited end from energy absorption. The only problem is that until you get EA slotted(27), you'll wonder where your blue bar went. Force feedback +recharges in fault/tremor and epic energy torrent gives you fault and tremor back rapidly and excellent control, to go with very good ST damage.
It's true. This game is NOT rocket surgery. - BillZBubba
As a level 42 ice//electric//earth tank, i would say yes, it is a good set.
Ice tanks are alot of fun in my opinion, one of my favorites, elec brings a good selection of AoE damage to the table as well as some end drain that works well with Energy absorption, from an endurance drain aspect. I decided on earth cause i really just want to see how Quicksand will work with chilling embrace.
But yes, i found it to be effective so far
I've been eyeing an ice/elec build myself. How necessary is it to soft-cap an ice/ tank?
I was thinking of this combo, as well. With regard to playstyle, I would think it would be similar to and Ice/Fire, in terms of grouping mobs and then unleashing AoE's. Thunderstrike and Lightnin Rod have KD, and there is also an End drain effect, though I think it's fairly small, but might work well with EA.
I am looking for something good for teams, but with excellent survivability. I am new to willpower and shield defense, and it looks offensive, but it doesnt look like it can go toe-to-toe with large, high level mobs. I was looking for Ice/Electric, due to the AoEs that Electric has. (Chain Induction, Jacobs Ladder, Lightning Strike, etc) I do not see a lot of people with this build and it isn't talked about a whole lot. Is there something I am missing? It looks pretty solid, but I was wondering if it has an obvious problem with it.
