Which is best...

I have always played the game blue-side since that is where I started and was always where I felt most comfortable so I had a main alt (Fire/Fire Tanker) who I decided to kit out with IO's etc. This progressed well until I felt the pull of Villainy...

Now I have a lvl 50 SS/WP Brute and a lvl 39 Shield/Elec Brute who are great to play and most of my last 6 months have been spent roaming around the Rogue Isles.

Therefore, my quandry is - should I carry on IO'ing my Tanker and make her as good as she can be, or should I start anew on a Brute? It seems I can have one damn good alt, or two pretty good ones.

Home and work commitments mean I dont play any where near as often as I would like (a few hours a week on average) so the gain of inf is quite slow so the idea of 'just do both' would take forever!

Any advice on which option to take would be greatly appreciated!

When i think of a person ingame, i usually tend to think of a single character of theirs that is their most powerfull. Thus i think you should concentrate on getting one awesome 1

If you IO the Tank, do you think you'll honestly go back to blue side more, or enjoy playing the character? I think that has to be part of the decision.

Like you, I started blue side, but for me the switch mostly happened as soon as CoV came out - and now I spend almost all my time as a villain, generally only playing on blue side if there's a powerset combination I want to try out.

I tried IOing a couple of my heroes since it so often gives toons a new lease of life. It didn't work that well though, I just feel more at home red side now - I prefer the newer story arcs, the contacts who are actually individuals, the zone design - and I struggle to really enjoy Paragon City. So despite having an awesome build now on my Ill/Rad Controller, she barely gets brought out.

Now, for me, this is no great loss - I spend enough time playing that I have IO'd characters both side and I've lost nothing. At least I have a decent Hero for when people in my coalition want to do TFs. But if I didn't have too much time in game and could only IO one character, I'd certainly want to IO one I knew I was going to play lots.

If you're not sure, maybe try leaving the Brutes for a bit, and go back and play the Tank to see well you still get along with her as a character, and with Paragon City as a setting.

I still play my Tank from time to time - the main reason I dont is that there isnt much I haven't seen Hero side whereas Villainy is still shiny and new to a degree with SF's etc to have a go at.

I am hoping Going Rogue wil provide a new lease of life and more to enjoy for an alt I do still get a lot of fun out of. I think part of what puts me off starting again is the sheer amount of inf I have spent partially IO'ing one alt - i dont know if I could bear to do that again!!

Then maybe you should not make a decision until GR hits. In the meanwhile you probably better continue exploring the red side since you seem to enjoy that the most right now. Just my two million pieces of inf.

I honestly don't understand why you can't work on IOing both.

When hero side, work on the tanker. When red side, work on that Brute. After all, you can't pass things around between the two of them anyways (at least not yet).
