I didn't see anyone else address this question (apologies if I missed it somewhere).

The only reward for modifying the difficulty settings in Ouroboros is badges (or possibly personal challenge, I suppose). There is no addition reward in the traditional sense (i.e., more XP, more Inf, etc.).

Like how Manu missions, how many merits awarded per, etc. Thanks a million!!
In my opinion, if you are looking for merits, you would be much better off running Taskforces, rather than regular story arcs. TF's are balanced around 20 merits/hour vs. only 8/hour for story arcs, and it is generally pretty easy to exceed the 'average' rate by a comfortable margin. Yes, you'll need a team for that, but every server tends to have groups of players that love running TF's. Check out your server's global channels and you should have no trouble finding teams for regular TF runs. If you're on Protector, Protector Watch is a good channel for TF teams.

You'll still be far better off by learning to identify a few profitable market niches to work on. As you've already noticed, there are plenty of recipes out there that can be purchased, crafted and resold for nice profits. It is extremely easy to earn millions a day this way for only a few minutes of time invested. The market is a great tool, even if you do nothing more than use it for selling drops, provided you spend even a minimum amount of effort to learn how it works.

And yes, the market forums are very helpful, but it's hard to ask questions in some places, like I had a thread going about my controller where I got like 8 bad rep pings just for simply trying to learn.
Let's see if we can fix that up a bit, then..

There seems to be a lot of -neg rep being thrown around lately, by the usual passive/agressive forum types who don't want to actually come out into the open and respond in a thread. (And yes, I'm sure I'll get -neg repped for this thread too!)

Let's assume it's "not enough recipes drop". If you're buying at 1,000,023 and they're buying at 1,000,022 you get your 10 and they only get 20. They start buying at 1,000,024 and the next day you get zero and they get 30. Then you see the 1,000,024 in the history and you start buying at 1,010,024 - that will show THEM. Then they go to 1,500,000 and start selling at 3,800,000. You don't get yours, AND you don't sell the ones you have. That'll show YOU.

If you both have more pride than greed, you end up buying for 2 million, spending almost 1 million on fees, and selling for 3 million. Eventually someone backs off and the other one proudly surveys the ruins of a good business.

This may be happening to me in one of my niches. I took a break from the game for about a month and started up marketing when I came back. There is someone obviously buying the recipes and trying to undercut me on the sales.

They are in for a big surprise though. I was doing this pre I16 and buying up entire stocks of the recipe. So I have hundreds of the recipes stored and dozens of the enhancements crafted with what was much lower cost salvage.

One good thing that you can do is make the exact same bid as the other lowballer to "share" the niche, as long as there's enough incoming merchandise. Tied bids aren't awarded according to time of placement, but some other metric. (Put up two stacks of bids at an odd price and you'll see them both get half-filled-ish rather than the first stack completing before the second starts.) Profits for all! (If slightly slower.)

I suspect most of the bad-reppage came from the Jesus aspect of the thread. I know mine did!

So, I understand there's already threads for this whole niche thing, but they're awfully wordy and sometimes hard to understand, could somebody maybe elaborate a bit more (in a very dumbed-down waw), how to use this method? I think it's only fitting since this thread has about every other way to make money in it, and I personally would love to know, as it sounds like this has a big payoff.
I also understand there's different niche strategies, some involving crafting items that you've memorized, and some involving just buying multiple recipes and crafting them. Multiple methods would be great, I'd also love to hear different people's strategies!
Thanks for making this thread so information-packed, I plan on coming back here over and over again and using this plethora of knowledge as my how-to guide.
I don't post a lot, but I constantly read this forum for new ideas and market strategy/tactics. Good questions here will usually get good answers - from good players.
