First off, I hope im in the right place.

Hello, I've been playing the game for about 3 weeks now, i've been in and out of a cpl SGs. They were either non active or very immature. Im not an up tight person, Im very laid back. It really took alot of immaturity for me to finally leave that SG, So I know some is gonna come into play no matter what SG im in, but there is only so much I can take. Im really just looking for a SG that does TFs regularly, but like I said I haven't been playing long so thats really all I know to do with groups. I'd love to explore every aspect of the game. I have both hero and villian toons.

If there are any SGs out there recruiting i'd love to try you guys out. Im a huge fan of x-men so all my toons might be mutants .

First off welcome.

There is a sticky up top with Victory SGs.

My advice to you is that you shouldn't rush to be in a SG. It isn't required to enjoy the game.

I'd suggest you join the Global Channels, Victory Forum and Victory Badges (There's another popular Victory channel that escapes me atm). Team with some of the players there (You can leach off the team leaders SG base teleporters) and hopefully you will eventually find a group of players that mesh with your personality as well as find a SG that fits your needs.

Good luck!

If you want to join in on TFs easily, another good tool is to join the server's channels.

"Victory Badges 2009" and "Victory Forum" are quite good for this. I announce and recruit in there for mission teams and Task Forces, as do many other people. You just need to join those channels and add them to your chat box to see it all going on.

I think the only other addendum is that the default for Victory Forum is for you to be silenced, so you won't be able to talk there at first. However, if you can find a mod for the channel, they can unsilence you (they'll have a star by their name in the list of people in the channel, and there are usually a few on, unless you're on at weird hours).

I would suggest my SG, as we're pretty nice and laid back, but we don't run too many TFs as a group... we all come on at weird and different hours from each other, and only join up for missions randomly, meaning TFs are hard for the SG to plan (doesn't help that we have a few on Pacific time, while others like me are in Central or Eastern: the SG's leader generally comes on when I'm leaving to go to bed, as he's two hours behind my time zone).

Though really, most of the TFs seem to form in those channels... the SG is more for good teammates from time to time, the portals, etc.

EB typed faster than me, heh. You probably can't join Victory Badges, as it got full. The Victory Badges 2009 is the overflow channel.

Another vote for the channels. I'd have probably gotten bored and quit the game by now if not for them (and a friend who started was about to quit before I turned him onto the channels and he started getting regular groups). I was in a couple SGs which were all nice people but either seemed to have nothing going on or what was going on was AE farms that I had no interest in. Now I'm in a tiny SG of myself and a couple old college friends I found playing and my main teaming/TF time comes from the channels.

I'm not too familiar with active hero side SGs aside from The-One and Legion of Valor which have quite a few people in them. On red side I would recommend Rogue Island Black Ops, they are probably the most active VG on the server.

And of course the channels mentioned would be a good way to get into TFs.

Welcome to the game, and to the best server!

I'll echo what most everyone is saying about the various Victory global channels -- there is quite a bit of activity on these channels at all hours (more during prime time hours, of course), and it's very easy to get a TF team either blue- or red-side.

As for an SG, I think Grey Pilgrim's advice is sound -- don't rush into anything (I think you've seen the results of that firsthand). Team up with some people and if you run into players who match your style, see if they are in an SG and whether you can join.

As noted, the "Victory Supergroups" thread stickied at the top of this forum is a good bet to see a few groups who are recruiting (I suggest working your way backward on the thread, as many of the groups advertised in earlier posts may no longer be active in the game).

Best of luck, and if there are any questions you have, don't hesitate to let us know!

I'm not sure what slowly drew everyone to channels on a server. I don't know if that extra layer of complication is liked because it weeds out some of the chaff, or what. I do think that there should be some better documentation on those things, as I do think that is partially why people can get the wrong impression that "CoX is dying," or it's too hard to find teams. Some of that does stem from people just expecting to get snatched up the second they get in game, but it is partially because where much of the population has gone: to the server channels.

So I'm a little torn on it. However, it is nice to have a bit of character and people you know to channels. It's also nice that it's based on globals... searches and broadcasts don't allow for "quick" identification (I know you can just click now, but that's more complicated than just reading the name).

Still, it's good to know about and use the channels... it is what it is, I guess.
