New player witha question about wings (ugh, right?)

Hey, Forumites!

I'm utterly new to this game, and am still getting a handle on things, but I'm really enjoying this game! My question is as follows

Anyone have a rough estimate as to how much I can expect to spend for some nice, shiny Bone Wings (on Protector server, Rogue Islands)? From what I gathered elsewhere on the 'net, I'm going to need:

Costume Piece: Bone Wings
5,000 Infamy
Regenerating Flesh
Ruby
Silver

... if I have that correct, of course.

I hope it's not going to be too expensive; the sooner I can give my demon some flappers, the happier I'll be. Thanks in advance!

It's gonna be a little expensive to buy it off of wentworths, but the rest of that is accurate to my knowledge. Shouldn't be too much, but these things are unpredictable.

Good Luck on getting the wings, if I played on that server, I'd buy you a set, but I can't even access it sadly.

Just looked on wentworths on american servers.

Bone wings recipe is going for 2,000-60,000 inf right now.
Regenerating flesh is going for 10-250 inf.
Ruby is going for 400-750 inf.
Silver is going for 600-7,777 inf.

Possible grand total with invention cost is 8,010-73,777 inf.
Now on your server, it would have different costs possibly, but those are the basics.

Not too bad if you can get a good break from somebody who is helpful.

Welcome to Protector!

To expand on MarkUrial's answer, all of the Wentworth's/Black Markets are connected across the American servers (all servers?). Thus you could potentially purchase the wing recipe from someone on Freedom, the Regenerating Flesh from someone on Virtue, etc.

The catch is that Wentworth's is not connected to the Black Market. Meaning that the products do not cross over from Hero to Villains.

Ouch ... though it could certainly be worse.

Thanks for your help! I'd better start saving up now.

I may have a pair laying around. I'll keep you posted.

Chances are, that it would be the cheaper price of the two, so that helps a little, but Major_T is right. Unfortunately the black market and Wentworth's aren't connected with their products.

I just realized I might be able to get on Protector, I could have a look around too.

It's definitely going to be the black market. Maybe I'll go poke around myself and see what I can come up with.

You guys have been great! I can think of a few other games out there whose forum members are less than kind.

Oh, well thanks! Yes, the forums for this game are the best forums for a game that I have found.

People here can be the most useful, and the most entertaining to leave messages with. I haven't had much of a chance to write on the forums, but I've been perusing them for some 3 years or more. I have no complaints about it yet.

Good luck on that costume piece, and have a good day.

Wow, that was easier than I was expecting. The prices were extremely cheap, so I'm all set.

Thanks again, everyone! Here's to a long, fun ride!

Well I'm glad you were able to get it all for a reasonable price. I guess hero-side people are just a bit greedy on the market sometime.

(To be fair, villain-side is the same, just for different things it seems.)
Have fun, and enjoy the double xp weekend!

Too bad your not on Infinity.

I'd gladly give you a cool $1,000,000 or so in Influence or Infamy. I've got tons. I always like to repay the kindness that was shown to me when I started playing.

Back then Influence wasn't as easy to come by. With no 'loot' to speak of, no markets. I always had trouble affording DO's, SO's seemed to be always out of reach. It was so frustrating to only have enough cash to buy 1 or 2 SO's every other level...
I was lamenting the fact that my blaster was going to have to go thru the next 20 missions or so with red enhancements to earn the dough. Then a Hero by the name of Temp_Extremes stopped me and unloaded around 200,000 (large sum back then!!) on me.....
For nothing!

It really, really helped! Since then I've always enjoyed giving gifts when I can.

Offer still stands by the way if you ever come over to Infinity!

And I routinely give away Hami-O's and infamy on this server. I also offered a pair of the wings, but the OP bought them instead.

Is this a player jacking? :P

By an unofficial count, I have given away about 3 billion in influence, not counting recipes / enhancements, on this server since I started playing. It could very well be closer to 5 billion total depending on the market values.

And all because someone, on the first day I played, gave me some inf to help me get started, saying "pass it forward later on when you can".

Basically, it helped set in motion a mindset of helping other players whenever possible for me. I would even say it's part of the inspiration for my involvement in the past in Praesidium and its events, the New Player Welcoming Night, and even PERC and the Superolympics committee for cross-server activities.

I wish I could remember who that was exactly, to thank him or her and let that person know how much of an impact that gesture had as it cascaded through Protector, and then outwards.

Whoever you are, wherever you are, /e salute.

Yep, that happened to me too! Except I know who inspired me to "pay it forward"-I live with him now. xD Charlie's generosity and willingness to teach others, as well as a few other people who've helped me out since I started playing (both known and unknown) have inspired me to do the same for others. It makes the game a lot more fun!

You're saying that Infinity is so hard up for players that you have to come to Protector, (which if you believe the doomcriers is empty) and bribe people to come over to Infinity? !?!
