Heroes/Villians balance

Since my last thread seems to be on its last legs for whatever reason..

In general, are there more heroes or villains on a server? And if it matters on what server, what about Freedom?

From my observation (IE: no real numbers or statistics behind it) it always seems like there are more Heroes than Villains.

From what I have heard/read of people who play more Blue than red, the most common reasons seem to be:
Heroes runs better on their computer than Villains.
It's easier to find teams Heroside.
They started with Heroes, and can't adjust to or don't like the Villain ATs.
Their friends play more Heroside than Villain, so they go where their friends are.
Heroes has more content/better content. (this often applies to late game content I believe)

Personally, I love Villains, but my Heroes still outnumber my Vils. I like running TFs/SFs, and the TFs are just more abundant than SFs.

Generally speaking, there are more heroes than villains on every server.

Freedom has been the highest load server (for the past 4-5 years, LOL), although recently, I have seen Virtue with a higher load than Freedom.

Freedom has a bad reputation as having a higher absolute number of bad players, immature players, etc. - which makes sense since it has a higher number of players period (with the above caveat about Virtue). I don't play on Freedom (avoid it like the plague actually), but that's the general consensus. Some people absolutely love Freedom - and I let them have that server.

Note that this weekend, it may be possible to be temporarily "locked out" of Freedom (& Virtue BTW). If the load gets too high, they stop allowing more logins. I believe they recently instituted a queueing system, so it would probably be only a few minutes delay, but be warned it could happen.

BTW, as an altoholic with over 60 alts, my ratio of heroes to villains is about 3:1 heroes.

This.

Also, wait till GR goes live, we will have villains and heroes switching sides. So who knows... there might be a ballance in the "Force" coming soon.

I think a part of the discrepency lies within the ATs themselves. CoV ATs tend to be more self-sufficient and able to solo without much trouble compared to their do-gooder counterparts. So, alot of people on CoV tend to solo which makes it seem like there are less people.

With that said, there are more heroes than villains from my experience in the past 3+ years. You'd have to survey players to find out why. I tend to play CoV more because of the ATs offered, Brutes most notably.

I estimate 85% heroes and 15% villains and that the situation is almost the same on all servers

I believe sometime last year some one (don't recall who) did a /who on all servers for both side, counted the number of characters and got a 60%-40% split. As to why villians have fewer player, as I understand it, its actually a psychological issue. While very few, if any, individuals would refuse to play as the "good" guys, the number who refuse the to be the "bad" guys isn't insignificant.

I have seen /sea based numbers in the range 60/40 to 70/30 with occasional outliers.

Just after COV launch the ratio was the other way, and fairly steadily declined to the above situation.

This is my main reason for not playing villains more. I'm nearing twenty level 50 heroes and I have one level 50 villain with no other toon even close. I have more fun being the good guy.

Never argue with stupid people. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

IMO it's just how you look at it. I have 'Heroes' who are redside, and 'Villains' who are blueside.

Basically any of the content is interchangeable with a few small twists in the wording. I mean, kidnaps redside are just like rescues blueside. Or you can ignore the given story and make up your own, which is also interesting to me from time to time.

I mean.. there is no place that needs a few Heroes more than the RI right?
