PVP Primary Question.

Decided on making a /regen for pvp (yea yet another regen for pvp, i know).

I have never played fire, but see its dmg is fairly nice, just no secondary effects unless you count dot.

Between FM, and MA, are they all fairly comparable? I guess would I be gimping myself by picking MA ? I see it has some disorients and EC seems fairly decent.

I would like great burst dmg, and both seem to do it. Any opinions?

There was a DM/Regen that stomped me in the final round of a Thursday Night Fight last week on Infinity. Took out a Spines/SR the previous round 1v1 and did fairly well during a FFA.

Very hard to hit, extra heal that packs a punch, and good survivability.

Zone or Arena PvP? (Is your opponent likely to let you stay at least in near melee range)

I tend to enjoy Zone PvP more often, so I'd say mostly RV type of action. And the question about mostly melee, I'd say a mix, since anything can enter the zone. Not sure what type of ranged options id get from the Epics.

And to the previous post. Never considered Dm/Regen. I'd be afraid I would have enough burst dmg to even finish off peeps with low health that I catch. But then again maybe Shadow Maul or Nem Staff can help.

fire/regen is the answer you are looking for.

For Fite Club DM/Regen is king, for actual moving around in a zone. Fire/Regen.

I have both. DM hits like a truck, shadow maul is on par with greater fire sword. (If all the DoT's hit GFS ends up a little ahead) For follow up attacks MG/SL they both end up ahead of Fire's Cremate/Incinerate.

Really the big thing is... Fire has its consistent Build up that you can reliably slot for To Hit, where DM has a potentially more powerful one that while it may last for 30 seconds has several downfalls:

Requires a to hit check.
Requires acc/recharge/to hit slotting in the 90% range so it becomes more difficult to slot it out where most build ups you throw in Gaussian's or Adjusted targeting and call it a day.
While its buff is more front loaded now (50% damage 10% to hit buff for the first, 10% damage 2% to hit for every other foe) It needs some fuel to bring it up to par with standard build up.

Like I said, if you are standing around not moving that 30 seconds of 50% damage is going to be better than 10 seconds of 100%, but if you are actively chasing targets who are going to try and kite you, I'd definitely go fire.

The heal in siphon life really adds up in a 1 v 1 situation, again where stuff isn't moving that much. In zone play you'll be relying much more on your Regen powers though.

Thank you for the descriptive post. I guess I'll rule out MA, and go for either FM or DM. Very tough choice!

I enjoy zone pvp very much, but once in a while a buddy may challenge me to the arena to test out his build, at which the dm/regen would probably do better.

Choices Choices. Well I'll still try to decide between those two, then i'll come up with a character idea/costume.

Thanks again for all the posts. Most def keeping me thinking on my toes about this.

I went into RV last night on one of my brutes, just to see what scrappers were there, to compare.

I saw a couple bs/regens, and 1 dm/regen. I noticed the dm wasnt really getting any kills. I guess this equates to nobody sits around long enough in zone pvp unless lolfightclub is goin on. I did see a ma/regen that did ok. EC did some nice big crits, but the kb from crane kick didnt seem to do much to peeps. Also the minor disorients in MA didnt seem to make anything over the top, but I was only there an hour.

Saw no fire/regens. No hurries, still deciding. While I decide, been farming on my Shield/Fire tank to get up some cash flow to set out whatever I do make.

Still have to decide. Never had such a hard decision. Probably because i hate rolling new toons, deleting them and rerolling something. But not like thats bad, whatever works I suppose.
