What happens when you run the updater? Did you try reinstalling it?
i'll try that and get back to ya.
If that fails to work, go into the folder where CoH is installed and delete the checksum file. When you open the patcher after that, it'll verify all your files and make sure you have the right version.

weell..i just got like.. a $70 Nvidia graphics card from best buy and installed it. Now, even though i thought the graphics would be way more kickass..the screen turns black instead. I can hear the music, but at the login page, the screen is black.
I did delete the file you were talking about, and i would love to see if it worked. but can't..because of the blackness lol
Did you go to Nvidia's site and get the most recent drivers for your card?

Did you install the drivers? Preferably the version from Nvidia.com. not ones from the CD?
Do any other games work?
Do DXDiag tests work?
Please go to the Tech Issues forum and make a new post about your issues there. This forum is for general help with the game, not technical stuff. Most posters here are glad to help, but can't go very far with the tech stuff.
When you make your post in Tech Issues, please include copy-pasted logs of CoHHelper and HiJackThis.
EDIT: Don't bother with dxdiag as the poster above me mentions. The CoHHelper gives us only the pertinent information from dxdiag, plus information about your CoH install, and that's all we need to know. The full dxdiag log is mostly filled with useless information.

Something I haven't seen asked yet, and nags me with of each of the OP's posts...
You are running the updater, right? There's a way to bypass the updater, and if you do that on a fresh install from disc, even if it's the newest box, it won't be up to date, and will need to be patched. Bypassing the updater when patches are needed will result in issues similar to what you describe.

As others have stated as well - the problem is most likely your graphic driver.
The 186.x driver are known for causing problem.
Update your driver and I think you'll be fine.
ok, i updated the graphics driver and no more black screen... but when i click to enter a server i still get this error message.
"Wrong game version, run patcher and reconnect, Server 1600.20090918.4T2, client could not find registry key."
Wow..this is annoying....
When I enter my username and password everythings good..but when the servers pop..no matter which one i click, they all tell me the same thing.
"Wrong game version, run patcher and reconnect, server 1600.20090902.5T2, client could not find registry key."
