ok, i updated the graphics driver and no more black screen... but when i click to enter a server i still get this error message.

"Wrong game version, run patcher and reconnect, Server 1600.20090918.4T2, client could not find registry key."

When I enter my username and password everythings good..but when the servers pop..no matter which one i click, they all tell me the same thing.

"Wrong game version, run patcher and reconnect, server 1600.20090902.5T2, client could not find registry key."

I just bought it last night.

also..i just got like.. a $70 Nvidia graphics card from best buy and installed it. Now, even though i thought the graphics would be way more kickass..the screen turns black instead. I can hear the music at the login page, but the screen is black.

I did delete the file you were talking about, and i would love to see if it worked. but can't..because of the blackness lol
