Wait, didn't Ice-T (as "J-Bone") say his name was "Jones"??

Heh, made 200m in 3 days grinding these things out in the AE and selling em for a mill instantly.

They always sold for slightly over a million, and I figured the guy who's flipping em would run out of seed money eventually. I was trying to knock the price back down by flushing the market with supply. I failed, but got wealthy enough doing it that I no longer care how much they cost.

I'm still stumped as to why someone would be willing to pay 2M for something it'd take all of 5 minutes to go get with tix.

I'm sorry, I don't speak riffraff. Didn't you see the monocle?

Call me slow, but .... What?

Edit: Of course an explanation comes while I'm being slow!

2 million hasn't been a meaningful sum for me since a few weeks after I9 went live.

my play time > my play money

Agreed, but 2m is still enough to notice, especially when you need the item in bulk. It's pocket change, but 1000x pocket change is 2b.

What I'm confused by is the fact that some rares are still going for double the 1m 'normal' rate. They're all worth the same number of tickets, so I'd think more ticket farmers would be grabbing the ones that're high and undercutting the flippers.

Certainly seems to beat rolling on recs since the market crashed. Even 10-14 bronze only has half a dozen results that are worth the slot. 5400 tickets is 90 10-14 bronze rolls, or on average, 30m. That's good, but takes maybe 3-4 slots to sell the worthwhile stuff and a good amount of time. The same 5400 tickets worth of rare salvage can be 10-20m and only takes a single slot - or in this case, no slots at all.

tickets are convenient for people who spend lots of time in MA.

inf is much more convenient for everyone else, so that's what they use.

The number of players like Evil Ryu, who rejoiced in Oroborous because it let him farm his own Luck Charms instead of buying them for 60k, is tiny.

I can be sitting at the market in Sharkhead, one superjump away from the MA building, and I'll *still* "overpay" for that rare salvage if I want it NAO because it's more convenient than jumping over to the MA building and cashing in some tickets.

And keep in mind the top prices are driven by the WANT IT NAO crowd.
Everybody else is putting in bids and waiting and many of them are getting a sizeable discount off the 'going rate'.

And strictly from a ticket perspective, who wants to waste a sizable pile on relatively price-capped salvage when you can roll random recipes with a potential worth in the tens of millions?
I've blown my share of tickets on random common rolls and the occasional Uncommon, but I've never bought rare salvage with it.

Well, Military Cybernetics, + "Flipper" from the TV show + the theme song of said show - referenced in the post name...

First thing I thought of was the Dolphin that had (Military Cybernetic implants courtesy of the Navy - he was a "retired sailor") from the movie "Johnny Mnemonic" - named Jones... it struck me as funny.

This logic works in reverse, too. 5 minutes for a piece of rare salvage isn't much, but 1000x 5 minutes is a month's playtime gone. If you can make 200m in 3 days, which is the better deal?

Dude, you're giving me way too much credit for your frame of reference :P Good flick, though.

IMHO? Both. I cap out all but 2 of my market slots with 5m+ IOs. I then use extra tickets that would push me past the 10k cap to pump expensive salvage into the market. Sitting on 8 Def/Res recs doesn't do me as much good as sitting on 20m until the recs sell.
