City of Heroes Mac Edition Guide (version 3)
Hey Manga.
In your first Terminal line for booting the client around the updater, you have a rather nasty typo.
Quote:
Should be "-project coh"./Applications/City\ of\ Heroes.app/Contents/MacOS/cider -- cityofheroes.exe -project oh |
Using "-project oh" runs City of Heroes without the player's usual preferences.
My guides:Dark Melee/Dark Armor/Soul Mastery, Illusion Control/Kinetics/Primal Forces Mastery, Electric Armor
"Dark Armor is a complete waste as a tanking set."
Really sorry if this isn't the place for this, but I'm trying to keep up my virtueverse pages and so I need some screenshots. I'm now playing on a Mac and this thread said I need to do an in-game keybind to be able to do it, but I don't know how to do that. Can anyone help? By the way, even though it's probably obvious, I've never done a keybind or macro or anything before.

In the Options for the game (that's on the game menu) there's a tab called Keybinds I believe. If you scroll way down, there's an item on that page called Screenshot. Click one of the two assignments to the right of that, and then hit the key combo you want to use for a screenshot (I used Ctrl-~). You'll have to set this combo once per character.

One trick that not everyone might know is that you can make an alias. So if you navigated to this location once, right-click, select make alias, and then move the alias to a location that you can access easily, e.g. the Finder Sidebar, your Home folder, something like that.
Retrieving Screenshots and Demorecords
WARNING: Tampering with the files within the City of Heroes application may render it inoperable, requiring you to reinstall it from the DMG. 1. Right-click the City of Heroes application and select "Show Package Contents". 2. Open the Contents, then Resources, then transgaming, then c_drive, then either "coh" or "Program Files" and then "coh". 3. The screenshots are stored in the "screenshots" folder, the demorecords in "client_demos". |
Then you don't have to do this whole trick again each time.
Thanks for the guide, as a new player (on Mac), it's very useful.

I've done this, but no matter what I do, launching the second instance just says "loading" as with the NC Launcher app, and then it takes me to the first instance of the application. I can't seem to run two instances simultaneously. What am I doing wrong?
6. You can run multiple instances of City of Heroes by Duplicating the application (File > Duplicate) and calling the alternate one something like "City of Heroes (2)". You can then launch both applications at once. |
Anyone? Anyone? Buehler?
@CuppaManga
there are no maps to be seen in-game at all, save for the normal maps that come standard with the game.
edit: well i guess you'd call them "special maps"...or something.
