I don't expect you to play my arc until custom critter XP is fixed

My AE story arc, which I worked very hard on, is full of custom critters with custom power selections. I gave minions fewer powers and lieutenants more powers and bosses still more powers. I tried very hard to make things balanced and interesting and wrote a good story to go with it (kind of a short story because I ran out of space).

After having my last team quit due to the low XP, I refuse to lead more groups into my story arc or promote the arc, except to ask the developers to fix this XP issue. I'm done with making stories in AE for now. I may run a few stories with my 50's now and then, but not with my lower characters who need XP.

When this XP issue is fixed, someone please post it loud and clear, cause I won't be visiting the MA forum that often for the foreseeable future.

I'm trying to figure out why my mobs are worth 0 xp. They HAVE powers. Not a ton but they have some. Theres 2 minions, 2 lts, 2 bosses in the group. I'm not reading anywhere why they should be giving 0 xp.

Did you take away any powers that are part of the "Standard" powersets? If so, the mobs will be worth 0 xp. This shouldn't have affected already existing arcs, but I have a feeling that editing those arcs will result in them falling under the new xp rules.

From the patch notes:

Quote:
  • Players can now select any powers for custom mobs to have. However, if the minimal amounts of powers required for them to be considered standard difficulty are removed on either power set, the mob will be worth 0 experience.
  1. As an example, a standard minion with Broadsword has Slash and Throwing Knives. If either of those two powers are removed, that minion will be worth 0 experience, even if a secondary power set has all powers selected.
  2. This will not cause any custom mobs currently on live to be worth zero experience.

All past changes to critters have been applied to existing arcs, so I don't see any reason why the xp reductions for critters on Standard or groups without all three ranks wouldn't.

As for critters that are worth 0 xp, since it was previously impossible to remove Standard powers from critters, there is no way a critter created before i16 should be worth 0 xp. I say SHOULD, because as with everything else, "not working as intended" is a distinct possibility.

Well, I only said that (in reference to critter xp) because that's what the patch note said. I'm sure existing GROUP xp was definitely changed due to the new rules, but haven't actually been in AE to see for myself since the issue went live.

Very true, very true.

I will not be promoting any of my arcs until this is fixed, myself. Nor will I be writing any more; all of my ideas are based around factions of custom critters, and there's no point right now.

I did put up my demonstration arc that shows that the custom critter changes miss the target completely, mostly so my spines scrapper can continue to collect tickets for salvage and recipes. I may tweak it to add more interesting features. But it's not really ready for prime time.

The patch note said that no critter in a currently published arc can be worth 0 xp. Nothing was said about existing critters set to Standard (unless it was in the list that said that Standard and Hard critters are worth less than Extreme critters, which is misleading, since Hard is supposed to give full xp).

Yes, I am picking at nits, but with all the changes made to how custom critter xp works between the start of open beta and now, not to mention official dev posts that contradict each other, it's easy for people to get confused.

Edit: I've also removed my custom critter arc from my sig, but not just because of the xp reduction. I'm not entirely happy with the arc anymore, the xp reduction was just the final straw.

I don't expect anyone to play my arc, either. Like OP, I worked hard to make Wicked, Wicked Wonderland a fun, story-based arc - with lots of interesting custom characters (and puns). I created what I WANTED to create - even though some people told me that having multiple debuffers in a game was too hard. Yet these were all STANDARD power sets, mixed and matched, and I don't think anyone who plays it should get LESS than full experience because of the I16 changes.

I am proud that this arc, despite its difficulty, managed to attrack over 220 players and earned a respectable 4-star rating. But I won't artifically inflate its difficulty to accommodate new rule changes that don't make sense. Standard should equal standard, should equal 100%. Hard should equal more than standard, should equal over 100%. And extreme should warrant EXTREME rewards.

While I still love this game and have no intention of quitting it for other pastures, I AM DISAPPOINTED with it right now.

I hope that, with time, the Devs will revist their decision as they have on other matters in the past and rebalance these experience levels.

Gotta love how the Devs didn't even bother to add any info to the critter creator UI to warn you of these things. There is no mention in game that going below Standard will rob you of all the XP, or that adding an extra power on top of Standard will add X% XP, nor does it say that Standard/Standard is only worth 75%.

If you didn't follow the patch notes when i16 was released, you'd have no idea of this until the 1-star ratings came pouring in.
