Official - SuckerPunch's Planner for Issue 16

First of all, YAY new online planner!

Second -- some things in the planner are not terribly easy to undo. For instance, is there a way to remove or overwrite a "build" for a character? So far it looks like once I've saved a build, I can't save anything new without eternally lengthening the list of builds. Nothing will remove or replace a build. Even making a new build of the same name seems to create a second copy.

Also, I have to reload a build if I want to replace a powerset or pool set. Once I select a secondary powerset, the first power is automatically chosen. If I misclicked, I can't unselect the power to change it; I have to start the build from scratch and select the AT, primary, and secondary again. If I select a power pool or ancillary/patron power set, I can change it, but once I click a power I can't, even if I unselect all the powers.

Thanks, SuckerPunch!

I team with the Repeat Offenders.

Not yet. I've got this functionality in my development environment, and it seems to be working pretty well. I just need to do some more testing to make sure there aren't any weird side effects. Hopefully this will go out today or tomorrow.

Yeah, this is a known issue. I'm hoping to get a fix in for it this weekend as well.

New code push tonight with some "big" features!

You can now over-write your previously saved builds when saving! In the save window, select the character name, and then you should see a link below next the "Build Name" that says "Or, select from an existing build". Clicking that will allow you to choose from builds associated with this character and let you over-write them.

Selecting an existing build to over-write should also default the other options to whatever that build was previously saved as. For example, if you had selected "Victory" as the server and marked this build as Hidden, "Victory" should be pre-selected in the Server menu, and the "Hidden" checkbox should be checked.

The other big feature is the ability to delete individual builds, or entire characters (and all their associated builds) from the My Account screen.

As always, let me know if you have any issues with these new items or any other functionality.

Today's push fixes the second part of Iron Yeti's concerns!

9/21/2009 12:00PM EST

New Features:
- If you deselect all powers in a set, you can now change the set in the drop-down menu. This should let you change your mind, or fix a mis-click, without having to do a hard refresh of the page.
- Just a fun thing, but selecting a villain changes the site's theme.

Fixes:
- Corrected a display issue when "enabling" powers that shouldn't have been available after de-selecting them. Functionality was working fine, but it was showing powers as being available when they shouldn't be.

Another code push for today, and it's a nice feature

9/21/2009 3:15PM EST

New Features:
- Added the "Browse Builds" page. It only has basic functionality for now, but with as few builds as are currently saved in the new system it's not such a big deal yet.

Browse works great as long as you pay attention to the "Please at least choose an Archetype" reminder and select something (probably to prevent everyone from loading the entire database every time, I'd guess).

One thing I can't seem to find (might be you, might be me) is a button to get from the planner pages back to the Titan Network itself. Unless I am overlooking something, that would be handy at times if I don't want to open yet another browser tab.

In general, I can't say enough good things about your efforts, which have improved the quality of my own experiences with the game.

edit: Also, when browsing public builds, is there a way to see the player's name? IIRC that used to be possible.

Yeah, this is a quick 'n' dirty implementation until some more builds get added in to make the feature really useful. It kind of goes with my overall goal of developing in iterations. Get something working and usable up, and then go back and make it more useful and feature-rich. This lets me get stuff into your all's hands quickly, while allowing me to maintain my sanity with a sense of getting stuff done.

Nope, I've been remiss and didn't put the link at the top, like we do on other sites. Screen real-estate is tight and I just forgot to find a place to put it.

Yep, I can add that in. See above about the quick/dirty and iterations

Thank you for all the work on this. It's very clean, very easy to use.

Just noting, the soul drain power from dark melee and soul mastery correctly accepts to hit buffs and PbAoE sets, but not tohit debuff sets.

Having the ability to access builds from anywhere is a great help. I look forward to seeing how the planner develops.

Thanks, I'll take a look. Added to the bug tracker!

Would it be possible to give a drop-down to pick the theme. I really hate the bright red villains one when you choose to view or build a villain.

I think the devs promised that in Issue 17. Wouldn't want to step on their toes

Sort of a big push today, as far as new features:

9/24/2009 3:00PM EST

New Features:
- Toggle Slot Level button - temporary (state is not saved) toggle to show/hide the slot bubbles
- New Settings button/window.
--- Saved settings are based on your Login Session, or by cookie if you choose not to login.
--- Included in Settings are:
------- 60 Month Vet Reward
------- Theme selector (can use default dynamic, or choose to always use Hero or Villain)
------- Slot Bubbles default (toggles the little bubbles over enhancements)

Fixes:
- If you click "Save Build" while logged out, and successfully log in, the Save Build window will now appear (previously had to click "Save Build" again after logging in)
- Hitting "enter" in the Log In window will now submit the form

I was messing with a regen scrapper build when I noticed there are no Numina IO sets for heals in there. Just a heads up. Great job BTW!!

Yay! Ta SuckerPunch.

There's an issue with the new buttons and Opera (or at least my Linux version of Opera), the Text in the buttons is too large, making them wrap onto a new line which causes a few display issues. Firefox it's fine (but I've noticed when writing and testing my own sites that Firefox tends to render text smaller than other browsers). Haven't had a chance to check it in IE.

Piccy here

10. It could indeed be a Linux only concern, I'll be able to check this evening when I get home. Zooming to 70% fixes it, and I can probably rig a fix via a View Mode stylesheet to get around it by forcing the font size.

Ok, I think it's specific to either your Linux distro, or your something else. I just installed a fresh VM of Ubuntu, installed Opera 10, and it looks exactly the same in Ubuntu as it did in XP or OSX.

What Linux distro are you using? I tested in Ubuntu 9.04 (it was the easiest), but don't mind having other flavors lying around to test with, if you're using something different

It's Fedora Redhat. 6 I think. I wouldn't worry about it too much if its just one distrib. It's more likely to be something odd with my settings rather than the Distrib I'm using I reckon. Let me have a look and see if I can spot anything I've got in my Opera settings before you go messing with other distribs.

I'm downloading Fedora 11 and OpenSuse 11.1 for fun anyway (yes, how sad is it that this is fun?).

It's Friday, and I have a plane to catch tonight, so right now my mind is everywhere but where it's supposed to be

Aaaaand... it's fixed. It was something buried away in my Browser settings. I'd set the minimum font size years ago (I've been using the same configuration folder since Opera 6) and that was bypassing your style settings.

Sorry SP. I should know to double-check my own settings before reporting things

No worries! Glad it wasn't something on my end, but even moreso that you figured it out. Plus it gave me a reason to finally get my VM setup working on this new laptop.
