It's only 5:47am, but it's still dark, and will be dark for a while. Days are getting shorter, and nights are getting longer. It's a weird world.

However, this day will have some FREEM associated with it since I will be adventuring to the other side (of test) and trying out some thing.

Aka,

(( Yes, I am awake. I went to sleep at 11pm because I was so tired ))

Hrmmm.... should I don said armor and venture into the wilds of Xendrik?

/e pokes breastplate.

Sure is shiny.

Good morning everyone! I trust you are all fine on this monumental 09-09-09 day today! The only one this century!

Because some cat-hating jerk decided to make this a 'Day Without Cats' day, and a bunch of sites seem to be going along with him, I've decided to counter this insidious and foolish plot with EVEN MORE CATS!

*throws a level and releases an army of excited NekoClones out into the interwebs*

Muahaha Muahahahaha! MUAHAHAHAHAHA! Go my fuzzy minions! Shed EVERYWHERE!

And now, for more cute cats:

In other news, today marks the Pre Order start for the MMO Fallen Earth, and the opening of the movie "9", so I will be in and out a lot today. Have a good MOAR CATS day today!

SG Mate: Cien, what the hell is this Rookery thing?
RadDidIt: (interjecting) Dude. It's the Rookery.
SG Mate: Yeah, but what IS it?

Yesterday marked the beginning of my new school schedule. Well, I'm in classes come Monday, and won't need to go on Fridays (but if my club starts up again, I'm going Fridays)

In other news, I preordered Dragon Age: Origins yesterday. Finally, a game where dwarves are NOT scottish.

Thinking of trying D&D Online, eh Rook? I installed it again when it went free and played a bit. Still fun, a couple of nice improvements, but still the same core stuff there, but now free with extra limitations! Good to mess around with a bit, but I've got so many games to play as it is...

Rad, I always loved setting up no classes on Friday. Unfortunately it allowed me to make myself woefully unprepared for the five day a week drudgery after college :P

And Dragon Age looks really good. When is it coming out?

Still waiting on my pre-order for Duke nukem Forever.

/e thrums fingers on desk.

Morning Detra!

/e hugs!

Yeah, I was thinking about it. Had it a loooong time ago and wanted to see what was changed or improved on. Way back when I was interested in it but not for 15 a month, it just wasn't worth that.

/e holds up a Tyson Chicken truck on a wench.

This the one Shecky?

A lot of improvements have been made of the past year or so to DDO, Rook. And at the very reasonable price of 'free', I'd say it's worth checking out again. The core mechanics are still there mind you, so you still need a group to do pretty much anything. But at least the majority of the solo content is in the free areas. Which may or may not give new people a bad impression of the forced grouping aspects of the game.

But if you're going to go, you need one of these.

What is a truck doing on a Wench?

I don't think it was that one. I wasn't playing Chicken last night.

/e gives Dr. Pepper to Kegan.

/e touches side of nose with a sly wink.

Howdy!

I remember it being a non solo friendly thing but when the group wasnt zerging through a dungeon it was a lot of fun. Just have to download it and see.

Also, for BP, updated my game to Silver level and it has gotten considerably more challenging. The grpyhon they have you fight was not a pushover like in Bronze. Didn't die but boy I came close once or twice.

/e tosses chicken truck back into the wild.

Back you goes to awaits a DJ with less discriminatin' tastes.

I tried DDO long ago. I was a mage, and my party was all "Let's finish this ASAP since it's useless to actually explore".

I prefer the exploration in D&D games. Dragon Age is not D&D, but it's the spiritual successor of Baldur's Gate, Bioware says. Since they made the epic Baldur's Gate series. Not quite the same.

I guess I may try out DDO, if it's free now. Gives me something to do until I16 launches!

NEver tried DDO, barely got a chance to play Baulder Gate which was fun. I tend to suck at most video games so I"ll jsut save my pennies for Rock Band: Beatles and be happy.

My best and most fun experience in DDO was with a static group. We met twice a week, each had our regular characters and we knocked out dungeons like crazy without the typical 'rush to the end' mentality you see in PUGs. My best times in DDO was with that group, and the game is pretty amazing and fun when you can get in a group like that.

Unfortunately, it's late in the game cycle. Heck, it was late when I started years ago. So a lot of the people are pretty much on the levelling an alt treadmill when you meet them at low levels. They've done these dungeons dozens, maybe hundreds of times already. They know where everything is and what to do, so they just want to get through it as fast as possilble. And that attitude rubs off on new players, turning them into impatient 'rush through it fast' kinds of players.

If some of the Rookery. folks wanted to get together and try it out, we can always make our own little adventuring team of 4-6 players and go at it together. My people are on Argonessen, but my roster is now full (over full actually, since I can only play 4 of the 7 characters there without subscribing or buying more slots). If people wanted to play there, I've got a couple level 2 people, or we could pick another server and have everyone start fresh.

Oh yes, Balders Gate, Balders Gate 2, Icewind Dale 1 and 2, were all really fun games. Like the first NWN as well but not number 2 for some reason. Oh and Planescape!

/e sighs and dreams of a new Planescape game.

Might be an interesting thing Neko. Lemme see when I can get it installed

Well, Neko. I guess I'll give a static group a try. That way I can explore a little like I did in pen and paper.

Oh, you didn't like NWN2 because Bioware did not work on it. Obsidian did (they did KotOR2 too)

Could be Rad. Moreso I didn't like the fire mage, she was snotty and I didn't like some of the moral railroading they made you do. "No.I'd rather find my own way into that evil keep isntead of teaming up with the chaotic evil ranger."

Yeah, Obsidian doesn't exactly like to let you go off the rails like Bioware does in their games. Perhaps your hero wants to go off to the poor district and kill some bandits there, when your main quest is to go to the rich district to help a merchant out. A guard is at the gates to the poor district.

Bioware: Sneak in the district, kill the guard, bribe the guard, find another way, or ignore it.
Obsidian: You're going to the rich district. I don't care if you want to do this, because I'm telling you that the story will not progress without you.

What I've seen with Bioware games is that you get a moral choice. If you don't want to explore with the chaotic evil ranger, you could go on your own. Sure, you'd maybe run into a few traps that the ranger knew about, but that's the fun of the game.
