Instead they do not all go for ranged Attack but for Rage.
Rage increases your to-hit like hell, that´s why SS is chosen.
I would not chose NRG anymore, cuz it animates like "i´ll-go-and get-a-coffee-while-ET-is animating" animation.
For Secondary i recommend Fire over WP cuz of the great fast recharging Heal.
But energy also gives rage... at least, this appears in powers descriptions....
No, it doesn't. It probably uses rage to mean anger, or fury.
Well anyway SS has too low damage in my opinion .. so i ll risk with EM.

If you think ss is low damage you are going to be back here soon crying about how bad em is now. The only decent melee sets(except stalkers) are ss and fire and bs for scrappers. SS does superior damage offers constant tohit. Also if you don't care about range you either rolling a fiteclub toon or retarded. You will want/need ranged attacks if you want to do your best.

Not trying to steal the thread, just a quick question........and it is about a tank, not a brute. I have just recently built my tank for PvP and on paper fire epic looked great, but I notice everyone is suggesting earth. Is a respec in order? Ice/SS/fire atm. My first respec left rage out ( I know, I am an idiot....) but after swapping some things around and grabbing rage WOW! I can finally do damage! If adding earth would give me just that extra edge I am all for it. Char and fire blast right now.
Now, to be on topic, I have fought several SS and EM brutes and SS is the superior choice IMO.

Fossilize from the earth epic is probably a little op atm. Definitely the way to go for min maxing for pvp at this time.

WP is a good set, however, in PVP Rise to the Challenge will be shut off each time you are held or stunned. PVP stuns and holds work differently, so it happens all of the time. Fire Armor is good, but its not the most durable. You will want load of global recharge to keep your heals up.

SS has low damage,as i thought, exept when u stack 2 rages.. but this is a ridicolous gameplay in my opinion.It is so boring..
EM is amazing if u use it correctly.. ur damage under build up + fe is devasting .
And i also think SS will be nerfed soon.
Anyway.. don't tell me "u need ranged attak for play zones bla bla" : if u are able to play a melee u don't need it at all. U have Taunt and Web Envelope... u can also take a ranged attak from epic pool: u don't need any stupid 111 damage base ranged attak from ur primary pool. A 198 nd a 371 is lot better.
This is only my opinion offcourse, and well.. will see in zones if i'm right

EM's animations take too long and aren't worth it with the low-ish base Brute damage mod. The only EM builds that give me trouble anymore are competent EM Stalkers, and you don't see those often because most Stalkers are Elec/ now. SS provides a constant source of tohit and damage with Rage (you say that Rage's damage bonus isn't high, but in reality Rage provides the same damage bonus as Build Up/Fiery Embrace and it's up all the time except the 10 seconds after a crash), allowing you to effectively negate defense in many cases. That being said, the most effective strategy for a Brute on a team is to contribute a bit of ranged DPS with Hurl/patron attacks while liberally using Taunt and Web Envelope - the amount of hate you'll get by being a disruption tauntbot is unreal.

Once(if) the placate proc is fixed people will probably start realizing fire is still at the top. Flares is just retardedly good. As for its nerfs are coming, i4 til now they have been at or near the top and only ever received buffs. Never once have they caught a nerf, how scary is that.

I do love my fire/dev though. My very first toon. Still puts out hella damge in PvP. Not an /EM kinda damage, but still a very fun and very competent PvP toon to play. Especially in zones.
Hi all. I d like to have some information about brutes' powers sets in pvp.
But WP also seems good.
About primary: i know most of ppl go for SS, but does it happen only cause it has a ranged attak? Cause i son't care about ranged attaks, i simply want damage. And about damage Energy Mele is the Best (Electric is also good, considering it drains end too).
About Secondar: I like Fire Aura, it heals
Can someone gimme some suggestions plz?
