DB/SR: Oh god what do I skip?

So yeah. What it says on the thread title. What do I skip, considering that I'm cool with going without travel, and really, really like 1kCuts?

On a related note, what the better attack chains for DB Stalkers? Hopefully there's one out there that doesn't require a load of power picks OR insane recharge to pull off. I've been looking at Mids and haven't found it yet.

If someone happened to have a non-purple build on Mids I'd like to see it, too.

I'm not too familiar with a Stalker's Dual Blades, but you can EASILY skip Elude from SR. Once you're softcapped, it does nothing but make End come back faster (and make you run and jump a bit faster). And that isn't worth its nuke-like crash.

My DB got by ok with only sweep and whatever combo that is that you get with the usual BU+AS, I think it was something like Power Up or Weaken? Vital Strike is useful for good damage. After that I dunno because I never used any other, although yeah, 1KCuts is like its own great combo, skipping that would be silly.

What's skippable from Dual Blades comes down to what you've already taken because of how they interact for combos. If you don't care about the combos at all, just look at the DPA listing below.

You'll pretty much get Sweep by default, since it starts with BU + Assassin's Blades and ending on Ablating Strike. I tend to put Placate off on my defense-based Stalkers, though, so you may end up missing Empower for a while.

If you took Power Slice you're very likely to get Weaken (the other two attacks in the chain are Sweeping Strike and 1k Cuts - both worthwhile on their own), but skipping Nimble Slash makes Vengeful skippable also - both are only used in Attack Vitals with Power Slice, Vengeful has by far the worst DPA without AV, and Assassin's Blades is much better as a guaranteed critical.

If you just care about DPA, the order (with damage scalar/sec noted afterwards) is:
Assassin's Blades critical (2.210)
Ablating Strike + Sweep (1.591)
Sweeping Strike (1.171)
Ablating Strike (1.111)
Vengeful Slice + Attack Vitals (1.000)
Assassin's Blades (0.789)
Power Slice (0.732)
Nimble Slash (0.707)
One Thousand Cuts (0.688)
Vengeful Slice (0.621)

From SR, the "skippable" powers are Quickness and/or Elude. You'll want everything else to get your defense as high as possible.

I haven't been bothered to look into the stalker DB attack chain for anything because my first instinct from looking at the combos was take every attack. I hate doing the maths when my instincts tell me stuff like that.

You can be soft capped to all with SR without Elude as long as you are okay on living without it. Quickness is another one but I find those powers that take a simple slot useful. You can have that at a level when you want slots for everything else and to act like a recharge in every power until you can get to slot them for recharge.

I have a DB/SR Stalker but am discouraged from posting my build as she is personalized but would be very fast at helping someone with theirs, it could have slotting similar to mine but atleast it will have someone elses personal touch remaining which I think is much better as we all play differently anyway.

To help start someone I suggest:

5 Serendipities enh in the toggles
4 Attacks with Touch of Death set.
2 Attacks with Eradication set.
1 Mako set in Assassins Blade.
Passives what needs be.

Rest is down to what power choices people make.

Thanks for the replies folks, I'll be skipping Elude, but keeping Quickness. 20% recharge for one power and no extra slots? Yes please!

I'd really like to get some definitive numbers on ST attack chains but I might end up asking that in the Scrapper forum, as they seem do that kind of stuff a lot.

Well I can promise you that there is nothing that can be done by the scrappers in the scrapper section that can't be done by people in the stalker section or all by yourself for that matter. Asking someone is basically asking someone to of worked things out for you.

A straight attack chain has to come from your build, you can use the DPA order of priority given to you by Siolfir and compare it to what the Combos would give you. You are better off from having various chains depending on the situation.

You have to determine what you want to focus on with the DB side because with SR you will have a very tight build.

Vengeful strike may not be the best bang for the buck in terms of DPA, but its ability to knock up a target offers huge help for squishy stalker. That is why I am also a big fan of sweep.
