DM/FA/Blaze - Can I forgo Stamina?

I've been playing around in Mids trying to get a build set up for a High Recharge based DM/FA/Blaze Scrapper. I'm hoping to put something together that while being expensive and still somewhat squishy, would be fun to play and would be the type of toon that just keeps on rocking. Now, I've got the Fitness pool in the build and I was cringing at my 19% Cold Res for having to skip Temperature Protection and was thinking that with both DC and Consume recharging in about 55 seconds each, I'd be able to fill my blue bar less than every 30 seconds. Which seems like it'd be ok. So, my question is whether or not dropping Fitness to take Temp Protection, CJ and Maneuvers might be a good idea to not only build on my piddly 14-18 defense but would also let me pick up some LoTGs, improving my recharge. Good idea?

Here's my build. I'd like the professionals to take a look and see where I could change a couple things to make it even better.

You could drop shadow maul and pick up tempurature protection. If you have the vet power sands of mu you can have a nice cone type melee power.

I think you should be even more happy with the slow res in Temp Prot then the cold res it gives you.
As far as stamina goes I think you would better of taking Stamina and either Cons or DC. That way you have a more reliable and steady end recov.
The combo is interesting for it's utility and versatility and I really like the feel of playing it, hope you will enjoy it too!

I have a DM/Fire that completely skipped Stamina, sitting on a global 70% recharge, plus Hasten (high, but not crazy high, it's just a bit shy of perma-hasten).

She does so well, that I actually removed Conserve Power from her build completely. After a while I realized I was simply never using it at all, so I traded it for Burn. Mind you, I know she's not survivable enough for things like AVs or Pylons and hard single targets is where one tends to depend on a steady influx of Blue Power; but in general play I hardly ever am pressed for endurance with her, as long as I diligently keep several mobs at hand. Works fantastically well in large teams, and with the new difficulty slider it'll likely work fantastically well with a crank up of the virtual team size.

Mi dilemma with my DM/FA was I was either going to use too many slots to make the two +end reliable, or sacrifice power picks for Stamina. At the end, I went with Stamina and one of the +End powers.

Bad idea, when slotted, shadow maul does dbl the dmg of sand of mu plus it has better accuracy, etc. And without SM you don't have any AoE attacks

Oh yeah, as to your question, I am pretty sure you can skip stamina. With a full bar of end every 30 seconds you would need some massive end drain for stam to be necessary, especially if you get conserve power

Another thing, I am not sure how set you are on blaze mastery but if you go with dark mastery you can get the tenebrous tentacles-->burn attack chain and that works wonders

I finally hammered out a build that I'm fond of. Just under 20s in defenses across the board (just over with the PvPO in the build, but we all know how that goes) and perma-hasten. Couldn't quite figure out how to get perma-Soul Drain so a 5 second downtime will have to do. I have a feeling this toon will be a ton of fun to play, maybe matching the visceral experience I get when playing my Fire/Kin/Stone.

Anyway, if you see ways it could be improved, let me know, I'm fairly open to suggestions. I did decide that this will work without Stamina. So what if I have to eat some blues once in a while, that's not a big deal, right?

I forgot to ask:

To all you attack chain gurus, what is the highest DPS attack chain I can run? I want to do some AV soloing on this toon and figure with purples and blues, I should be able to do it. Would it be advisable to swap out RotP or Temp Protection for Burn if I only have one slot for it?

Thanks, looking forward to hearing your responses.

Smite, Fireblast, MG, Smite, Fireblast, Siphon life?

Posted

Fireblast doesn't belong in a high DPS DM chain.

Without being able to look at the build, if you have perma-hasten you should be able to run Smite SL Smite MG as long as all the three attacks are well slotted.

Posted

Is it a mistake that the st0n3y's i16 Mids is showing Fire Blast as having a much higher DPA than SL and being almost on par with Smite? And this is before factoring in FE which benefits Fire Blast more.

Posted

Yes, it is a mistake. Fire blast is weaker than Smite ingame, doing less damage with a longer activation time.

I would pick up stamina and run SM, FB, MG, SM, FB, SL or SM, MG, FB, SM, SL
