It's a reputation counter. You add or subtract from people's reputation with the little scales in the lower left of the post. You can see a number for your reputation if you click on your own. It can be turned off in the forum User Control Panel I believe.

Ya. I'm trying to see how many negative rep I can get after other forumites feel better about themselves after lowering it. I'm not doing this on purpose. I'm just posting whatever is on my mind.
