MAC users announcement: Snow Leopard and Tiger OS
Ok so you *can* contact the patch server...
Let's try and hit multiple other possibilities at once:
Start up in Safe Mode first to see if anything loaded at startup may be causing problems:
1. Be sure the computer is shut down.
2. Press the power button.
3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone but not before.
4. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Then try to launch CoH Test Server client again and see if it works. If it does, then something being loaded at startup is causing a problem with CoH.
After that, restart again normally (no shift key) to load everything normally again.
If that doesn't work, try typing this in Terminal: "dscacheutil -flushcache" - and then also launch Safari, and select Empty Cache from the application menu.
And if all the above fail: There is a rare issue with Transgaming's Cider that can produce that specific error (in your console log, the one about 'macdrv') on very specific versions of MacOS (10.5.7/10.5.8), only on Macbooks. You might have better luck with Snow Leopard instead. In fact, if the bug isn't fixed before Live date, I'll probably start recommending Snow Leopard with it just because of the possibility of that happening, since it's such a pain to track down.

Anyways looks like my problem is solved. I dunno how. i did another fresh install, trash the preferences folder, flush dns and reboot.

please excuse the small print. arthritis makes it difficult to use the shift keys.

I am totally frustrated by this move. I'm using 10.4.11 and have not upgraded to 10.5 (Leopard). Now, to play this game, I have pay $170 to upgrade my OS.
This is completely outrageous. So, now instead of paying $15 a month to play, I will be pay twice that (including the cost of having to purchase Snow Leopard).
I'm am this close to canceling my account along with my families other three accounts.
I usually don't get this worked up, but this is one those things that really burns me.
Thanks for nothing NCsoft!

basically, if you see a miki on Triumph, it's probably cute and it's probably me.
Huge thanks to cuppamanga and all the folks in the mac help forum for prolonging my borrowed time on this game.
If they don't figure out a way to repatch for our current video cards, we're ****ed in a need-to-get-a-whole-nother-new-computer kind of way.

During early Mac beta the cursors had reversed RGB, and there were also issues with the mouse cursor jumping around.
At one point, both the cursor color and the cursor reliability issues were fixed, but then they both came back with this latest build. My guess is they switched code branches and ended up with some older code. At least I hope so, because that's easier to fix.

I had a mouse glitch, my friend said to re install it, as that fixed his, and now I'm having the same porblem you are. NCSoft hasn't given me any help yet.

I pushed for replies for a few days - untill they told me they'd escalate my ticket to higher support, which was a polite way of them saying to me to stop mailing them.
Either they got no clue where the code (as cuppa mentioned above) is and with what to replace it. Or they're working on something else and can't be bothered helping us straight away. I hope it's the first one, but it's pretty sad at the moment.
