Yeah, that's what I meant. That order was an artifact of the program I used to find the DPS.

I think the descrepency in my numbers was that FB was on a melee damage modifier. I was led to believe that it, and all the epic blasts were on the melee damage scale, instead of the ranged damage scale.

EDIT:

Apparently Ston3y's I16 mids update has Fire Blast at a 1.33 base damage, then has an additional 1.33*4*.8 added. It probably should be 1, with a .1*4*.8 chance.

So FB is the suck after all? I'm interested because I was thinking of running Havok Punch, FB, Chain Induction as an attack chain, though if it is like this I might as well ponder lock and loading Charged Brawl.

Well for DPS Charged Brawl is better then Havoc Punch too. The best DPS attack chain for Elec melee is Chain Induction/Charged Brawl/Jacobs Ladder/Charged Brawl(for Scrappers). Now I don't know the numbers for Fire Blast so I don't know if putting Fire blast in your attack chain will make it better.

Hmm, it goes against the grain to leave out the 'heavy hitter' out, but if DM taught anything is that a fast running chain works the best.

I didn't know that chain btw, so thanks ^^

Even at 1 scalar fire blast is still decent. It still has .33 from the extra fire damage. It still can take the purple proc, allowing you to have 2 purple procs in your build. And I think it still crits. From what I've seen, tanks and scrappers have the same ranged modifier. Therefore, sense a similiar power on a scrapper deals more damage (Laser Beam Eyes for example), I'll continue to assume that scrapper APP ranged attacks are on a melee modifier.

Regarding the math, it would take the build down to 295 dps. Smite with three procs would increase that to 298, while increasing end costs, lowering global accuracy, and reducing global recharge (assuming that Fire Blast is then slotted with thunderstrikes and slots moved around to keep the build perma).

So yes, FB is still worth it.

FB dots don't crit, only the main part does.

Using Smite instead of Fire blast would imply replacing Fire blast with Melt Armor, which should be a 15-20 DPS increase at 300 DPS.

300 DPS?
That with maxed out aao and sd?

Kioshi - Oh yeah ? Well, YOU suck for scrappers. So there.

Poor, poor Melt Armor, you're underappreciated.
Sorry for the sidetrack, but I am interested in this particular statement.

What situations do you find Melt Armor useful in? I am considering taking it on my Fire/Fire/Flame blaster, but I have to drop Blazing Aura in order to do so (which accounts for ~11% of my damage output over the course of an evening).

My experience with it on test has not been good, but I have been all solo or on small-mid size teams (although the small teams were facing larger spawns thanks to the new difficulty slider). Since I really like the animation and sound, I want to be talked into this power, so I should be an easy sell.

Why Blasters? Empathy Sucks.
So, you want to be Mental?
What the hell? Let's buff defenders.

All my toons with it kill slowly, so they often get to use the 40s duration while solo on team spawns.

On teams, I like boosting my teammates' damage in a tough spot.

I'm not sure there's much more to it. The power takes a second and a half to cast, boosts my damage by a bit and opens up Fireball.

In your situation it seems like it wouldn't be so good (not a prereq for anything cool and dropping BA for it would, as you say, lower your damage output significantly, more than what the boost Melt Armor would give).

Looking at these builds, I can honestly say the developers are a little crazy for giving Scrappers Fireball. My character went from light speed to ludicris speed.

I never thought they would give Scrappers Fireball too, but they did So I'm going to enjoy it as much as I can

This is what I came up with, the only thing not softcapped is aoe which is .4% off. It also has 71.3% recharge before hasten. It has no travel power, but I dont feel I really need one.

Has anyone factored in the -res proc and the two dmg procs you can put in melt armor?

Melt Armor is a power you're going to use once every minute at best, making it a poor choice for procs of any kind.

Ahh yes. The horrid long recharge. Yup. even the -res is pretty pointless. At least the sets it takes have good bonuses.

Something I noticed on the new Mids, when Phalanx Fighting is on it is always giving 3.75 defense to all. So some of the builds that appear to be softcapped may not be.

Phalanx Fighting gives 3.75% when solo. If the new mids is saying that then it is WAI.

I'm sorry I wasn't more clear, but its giving 3.75 unenhanced. Logging my Brute to see if this is true or an error in mids.
