Level 1 Foot Race from Galaxy City to the Shards !

Since there will be no minimum level for entry to the different zones after I16, and after reading this, I'm strongly tempted to organize a Level 1 Foot Race from Back Alley Brawler in Galaxy City to the Jetpack Vendor in Firebase Zulu.

Off the top of my head, the rules would be like:

* This event would be scheduled shortly after I16 goes live.

* All participants would be Level 1 (or maybe Level 2 if they went thru the Tutorial ?)

* No travel power allowed including Vet Rewards, the only exceptions being Sprint and the City of Heroes Pre-Order Sprint powers (now, how to inforce this ?)

* A "suggested" route will be established, and volunteers would wait at a series of check points along that route to "check" on the progress of the runners.

* Rewards would be at least 10K - enough to buy a Jetpack - for any participant to make it into Firebase Zulu within a certain time frame (to be determined).

Ok, so this is the first time I try my hand at setting up a Player's Event, so any meaningful comments are welcome !

This sounds like fun, Arch!!! Since it is a level 1-2 event, NPWN will put some influence for this!!! Sounds like a perfect lowbie/newbie event!

Hell, why not go for broke? A race from Galaxy all the way to the Storm Palace itself (the first person to land on it wins).

Have each runner assigned a revive/teleport enabled character to get them back up if they die (but they can only be teleported backwards).

On second thought, that'd probably be a lot of work to organize.

On third thought, if y'all really wanted to do that and maybe allow Grant Invisibility once the runner reaches the Shadow Shard, or any other stipulations, I'd use my second spec to help.

Might have to offer a good size reward for it, but yeah checkpoints would be good and of course in the shard...flight and tp would have to be allowed... IMO. Maybe only the jetpacks, but hey...

This brings back memories of the Level 1/2 jog from Atlas to Portal Corps. The long way. Before bases existed, before the Green Line went into Skyway, before temp travel powers. All by foot.

Going to send you a PM with more info =)

I'm trying to keep it simple (???), and will put the finish line near the Jetpack Vendor in Firebase Zulu, so no need for TP or Flight - it's a foot race, remember...

Afterwards, if a level 1 wants to explore the Shards with his brand-new Jetpack, hey, who am I to stop him or her (or it) ?

You know, I rarely fly in the Shadow Shard. But I guess the challenge of finding the right jump points would make it too complex.

Still, I'll offer a watchful eye if you need someone to try and catch cheaters.

I barely even know how to FIND the palace, lol. If folks are on teams, there could be an overseer (lol shards) to keep watch on their powers in the team window?

Only if they are all in the same zone. If someone pulls ahead or falls behind, they could activate a power for a few seconds.

Perhaps it would be possible to use an Ouroboros crystal in an SG base to enable the "No Travel Powers" option?

There was a relay race, a long time ago, where it was teamed.

One member of the team was given a specific enhancement (depending on the number of teams). This enhancement was passed from teammate to teammate and the winning team was the one that got the enhancement to the finish line first.

The teams did not know which enhancement they were going to get, not the level of it, so stocking enhancements was not a help.

There was another race, to the shard, that allowed the maximum travel power the person could have for the zone, and it was a specific zone travel pattern (i.e. Atlas to Perez, Perez to Kings, Kings to IP, etc.)

Not that I am downing this idea, it is unique in limiting it to level One or Two.

Just throwing out some history.
