Once more into the breach my friends !

I find myself soloing a lot with my Blaster, so I may just be getting impatient while waiting for Cryo, heh. Ignite was useful when I was soloing Rikti bombs during a raid, though (poor me, no one wanted to join me). So I can definitely see how great it is if you can leverage it. But solo, I can see a snipe being about as good as Cryo+Ignite on a LT., and I tend to stun bosses and pummel them to death with my melee attacks, as just about everything in game reacts badly to massive Energy attacks.

I probably should keep it, as I'll mostly be breaking him out for TFs once he gets to 50s (hard to play my 50s much with so many alts, heh), and it will definitely be of use with AVs.

Anyway, more on track with the OP. Aid Self can be nice to pick up as well, as damage does tend to squeak through. Though I found with my Arch/Dev Blaster that once you get about 30% defense and just Body Armor, your health doesn't get too low... RoA + Cone of Arrows dropped mobs that fast. I'm not quite at the same level just yet with my AR/EN (wishing for more slots at every level to get more bonuses), but I'm hoping the story will be the same there. Though the new "mobs attacks still damage you if they die will animating" feature might make that not true, now that I think of it.

Umm, but I was worse on my Monk ( my main when I played :P ) She got to experience the joy of dual wielding Mosscovered Twigs before they were nerfed
*GASP*

And a monk too ?

I bet you did the Monk epic twice, just so you could get to camp that frog guy in Lower Guk some more!!

GAH !!! Heh, Thanks ! Now I need to look this over to shamelessly gleen knowledge.

Edit: I have QUESTIONS !!!!

1.) Is taking 1 basically useless power worth taking Aid self and slotting that high really? I can see where it would be good in a PvP situation, but I never plan on PvP in CoH .. it's crap tastic and not worth the aggravation. PvE I would HOPE a team mate would toss me a heal, or barring that pop a greenie and go about my business. I just have a hard time with the negative + positive = good.
2.) Is Surveillance worth taking with one slot? Is it worth taking at all? I liked the set in it, but more than that I liked the idea that I was getting a -def -res @ range AND it was party friendly. To me that's a positive positive
Was it over slotted? I saw the -def proc and thought it was a great match for that auto power, much like a numinas proc in Health. Am I wrong in this thought?
3.) Cryo Freeze Ray + Ignite. Cryo is single target correct? Does it cycle fast enough for me to keep several mobs in the fire patch? I seems like I would have 1 maybe two in the patch and the rest scattered. Again, am I wrong?

SO much to learn !

1) Aid Self is great if you have the space. Personally, I wouldn't ditch Hasten for it, especially with a set like AR, what with Flamethrower and Full Auto being awesome but on a fairly long recharge.

2) I have yet to make up my mind on Surveillance. Again, I have room, because my secondary sucks, while yours does not.

3) Cryo Freeze Ray will probably cycle fast enough to keep two mobs chain-held, depending on how much recharge you get into the power and how much global recharge you can scam. 6-Slotting it with Lockdown will get you some more ranged and AoE def. Ignite is a fairly small patch though, so getting two mobs into it relies on them being close together to begin with. You can get more than two if you team with a tank and controller, but not solo.

What does the power armour book do exactly? I wouldn't mind seeing a list of abilities. If it turned into a staminaless AR blaster with 3 travel powers and a full set of leaderships its doable and playable so knowing the list of abilities is nice I think.

I would think it's safe to say the "list" would be my build

So no more power choices or changes then? I think a Heal Numina is very expensive for 0.6hps, I'd of just stuck a heal in there. I have a proper look after I Defeat All Agents and Destroy Contraband.

Same build but with:

KB Prot
A better 2nd Stun.

Reason being ranged def is all right if you can keep mobs ranged. So I figured that could be difficult at times so more control for when it is helps.

You've only lost some tohit during a build up period really. I really couldn't see the build maintaining range and I'd imagine Beanbag+Stun is a major factor in live/die.

The most suggestive thing ofc is kb protection.

Very nice New Dawn, thank you for the time you spent on that ( every one else as well if I haven't properly thanked you !!) of course, I have more questions !!

I am ever the curious one

1.) Full Auto, being a cone attack, would it benefit from a range IO or does it have a long enough range?

2.) I'm still quite curious about surveillance. Is the proc in there useful or even appropriate?

Full Auto is okay out of the box, but having longer range opens up the cone more the further back you are, which is nice. You'll get used to lining things up and distancing yourself so you can hit everything you want, and range will probably help some... but I just got some incidentally by slotting the Posi set in there.

Surveillance is pretty good... it can help you open up on a tough mob. I believe the achilles proc can aggro the mob on you if it fires, though (Surveillance doesn't on its own, so you can use it at range/stealth to start things off nicely), or so I heard. I haven't bothered to do it with mine, so I can't say for sure. It's fine without, though.

1) I think that with Boost Range it's unnecessary personally. I have range in buckshot and flame thrower to keep me positioned 50ft back almost to where autofire is good for me without Boost Range (I am 53months AR/Dev). A group may be rectangular in shape and so I shoot facing the thinnest side.

2) Surveillance is good for me without a Proc as I like to be sure to use it without being noticed on recon details for my other toons. Within an attack chain however I never really worked out if it's actually providing me with better assault through the -res, but I doubt it is. I shall go look at it. I prefer Cryo to that power as it is. If fighting 3 enemies it's a bit like giving myself 33% def to all cos I held one with it. Beanbag one, Freeze another, taser in my case, hell they can be used to save other ppl too. Surveillance is on my gadget build.

Ok, both explanations made complete sense to me. Cryo, I hadn't thought of it like that. I love holds ( I have more controllers than any other AT .. but that was a long time ago Just didn't see how it would help with this blaster, but in the mitigation department it makes sense to me.

I tend to like more cerebral characters who rely on their wits and guile as much as their powers. This plays into that nicely.
