Here's my "so cheap I found it in the toilet and it still roxxorz" build:

And I don't know if this will show on yours like it does mine, but sometimes there is a toggle bub on either M30 or Burst that shouldn't be there. It will erroniously add 100% to recharge. Make sure to turn that off. This is 17 sec short of perma-hasten, not 15 sec overlap.

Changed my cheapo build, pulled a slot off beanbag and put Kinetic Crash into Trip Mine for 7.5% more rech.

For the last month or so my blaster has been living in the MA building turning tickets into $$$$, and it's been a handy measure of his increasing capability.

He started off at +0/x3, back when he was mainly frankenslotted.
When I'd upgraded to mostly pretty good sets, he was rolling along at +0/x5.
Now that he's approaching the finish line of his build and is rocking 'good' sets plus a couple of sets of purples, he's cruising through +0/x8 without breaking a sweat. I'm thinking about bumping it up to +1 to see what happens- I doubt it would be efficient, but I kinda want to see if he can handle it.


Thanks to the wonders of MA he's been able to buy pretty much whatever he wants with minimal patience while maintaining a fairly steady 500 million bankroll. Selling crafted IOs from ticket generated recipes is fantastically lucrative. He's only missing a couple of pieces from the final build now, and the main impediment is my dislike of respec'ing, plus the fact that I'm looking at multiple respecs unless I just want to throw away a bunch of good IOs, I've got way more than inventory can handle. =/

I have been trying to do the same, unfortunately I do not have the passion you do for the market. But I see I will have to try and work a bit harder at the market as it is an inevitable necessity to create some great builds.

I think I might have a bit of a better build that you can just switch your purple IOs into. I posted it up on the forums and Adeon gave some insight. I played around with it a bit more.

It does give you a pseudo range defense cap and some others if you use smoke grenade with offers a -10% to hit. With Cloaking device suppressed you at 38 % in range defense.

It uses hover instead of combat jump. My thoughts about this is simply excluding caves mission issues. There are mobs that can run through caltrops with on effect ( ex werewolves ) which would then require me to keep back peddling. But now with hover I can disregard caltrops if needed and just hover just above the mobs head forcing them to switch to ranged attacks. I have experimented with this on a Dark Electric Defender to make sure the theory is correct and working.

The build also gives you some other defense caps as well. So if you do get stuck in melee range for some reason, at least you have some sort of protection as you attempt to escape.

I will admit that hover can be troublesome sometimes. I think with your purple IOs and a higher defense cap it would be very kickassish

I actually 'earned' most of this build doing nothing more than running one MA farm map a session when I had the time. It took him 20-30 minutes to cap the tickets at 1500, I rolled 'em all bronze at 35-39, deleted the junk and crafted the good stuff. I bought the sets I knew I'd need as I went along and stuck 'em in base storage. The only marketeering involved was when I found a particularly good score (cheap recipe, expensive crafted IO) I would grab 10 or 20, craft them up and sell 'em off.

I can definitely see the benefits of hover- I hate Warwolves on anyone with a big slow. But even though I'm trying to min-max this guy at heart he's a concept character, and flight just doesn't feel right. He's got beanbag and web grenade for the occasional runner, so it's not too bad.

I'll definitely check out your build though, it's always interesting to see how other people approach things.

Thanks for the offer. I don't want to derail the thread. BUT ( You know a but was coming ) I went off to read some of the stuff you and the rest of the crew have been posting on the market forum trying to get the concepts down. I think right now I might have 30k to 50k in tickets throughout my toons. So I should give some of that info a shot and see.

One thing is sure no matter how much we hate the AR Device combo, we still love the toons and the theme behind them. I hope they take a stab at improving Device some day.

I do have some questions.. Your running frankenslot build atm you said. How you doing 0/8 missions ? I honestly can't do that with my current build, it is an OLD build and might be lacking. I am hoping the new build will bring me some better odds.
So is it the mission your running. Is it design of your own or your just looking for weak or less resistant to Smash Lethal mobs ?

Another off note.. Your location, in your base eatin your shinnies. Shinnies ? Just wondering where you got that from ?

Personally I find it works best against Council (or custom groups with similar enemies). It's not so much about enemies who are weak to S/L damage but enemies with a lack of ranged mezzes and that deal mostly S/L damage (and if possile have lots of melee attacks). Caltrops (and possibly an AoE immobilize if you take one of the Patron Pools) allows you to keep enemies at range so you want to leverage that.

It's a combination of a couple of memes. Referring to MMO loot as "shiny things" is old and of indeterminate origin. He's combined this with the phrase "in your base, killing your dudes" from Starcraft.

Now is a great time to roll some recipes, I capped twice last night with my fire tank and made ~60m a run in instant sales, plus a handful of stuff I crafted and stuck in base storage for my alts to sell.

Absolutely. I've had mine since the first week the game existed and he's seen it all as far as performance goes. Hopefully the pendulum will swing back in favor of AR/Dev again sometime in the future.

I farm at 0/8...a key difference. =)

As long as I'm dealing with enemies who don't throw out a lot of mez it's smooth sailing. When you're mowing that many guys at a time the inspirations fall like rain. I keep a break free in my hip pocket and combine everything else into reds and purples and eat them like candy- at any given time I've got several purples and reds of various sizes applied. So, not much is hitting me and I'm pumping out a ridiculous amount of AoE damage. The minions usually go down from the first volley, then I pick off the lieutenants and bosses.


There's no way I could do 0/8 against stuff like Devouring Earth or Malta or Rikti with this build. But picking and choosing which enemies to fight it works really well.

ok fiddled around with it a bit and decided to go all out for the cap, as it didn't seem to gimp anything I liked *too* badly. I will miss snipe, though.
Previous build was high recharge/moderate def, this time I went for max def and recharge where I could sneak it in. I may do this as a dual build alternative, give it a 'test drive' so to speak.

Ok, bought my PvP +3% def IO this AM (thanks MANDUR!) so the grand unveiling of his "final uber build" is fast approaching.

Last call for comments, advice or suggestions, and thanks to all the respondents who slotted my attention span for range enhancements during this lengthy project!

This build is setup for range attacks. Cave missions solo can be an issue because of the hover Kluge. I do think in a group this is a good build as you can stay back.. Drop AOE holds for the tank, stun bosses and sniper others.

Smoke Grenade and Cloaking Device suppression are giving you approximately 8.8 defense bonus. So if you turn off cloaking device and look at the totals just add that 8.8 number to defenses. The issue is Smoke Grenade is a 60 second duration so you need to remember to drop one on the mobs your fighting to keep up max Range Defense.

Attacks
Full Auto is on a 20 second recharge.

Gun Drone is a 57 second recharge, duration for Gun Drone is 90 seconds. So you have 30 seconds of double gun drone.

You have Web Envelope and Web Grenade to hold mobs in place.

You also have Beanbag and Taser as you Mag 3 hold for bosses. Beanbag has a 20 second duration and Taser a 12 second duration, both of course have a quick recharge for multiple stuns. Great for stacking as well.

Buckshot is your attack for keeping mobs away from you.

And then as added damage the spiderlings. Again just some additional damage you can toss out.

I sort of image this as tossing smoke grenade, Possibly Caltrops in front of me. Then Opening up with Full Auto followed by Web Envelope or vice versa, Web Envelope and then Full Auto along with Gun Drone(s) and Spiderling Blasting.

I do think it has a decent amount of control between a AOE immobilize and single immobilize and the 2 Mag 3 stuns which have a longer duration then recharge. So you can pretty much keep a few mobs in perma stun.

I added a +recharge to Buckshot which can be replaced.

Anything else that might seem odd is because the build has reached the 5 same bonus rule. So unless there was another set bonus within the set that I felt was needed I went frankenslotting. A perfect example of this is Gun Drone. Though it breaks the 5 rule I kept it for the Range Defense.

This build is more of an AOE attack type. Again trying to cap out Range Defense. With Cloaking Device off just add 10 to your defense totals to get your Smoke Grenade and Cloaking Device suppressed numbers combination. Again you need to remember to toss out a smoke every 60 seconds or so to keep your Defense Range up.

So Range Defense is at 44 and some tenths. I think the game will see it at 45% which is cap. It will also cap out some others as well.

Smoke Grenade with Time Bomb should kill a group out right. Anything left can be cleared out with Buckshot or Full Auto for over kill.

I have not utilized Oppressive Gloom ( OG ) but I am using that for mobs that get into melee range with me. Stunning them and using Beanbag to stun bosses that OG will not work on. Again I am hoping that I might have enough stun to toe bomb in a live crowd. I think OG with Caltrops will keep mobs either stunned or running.

Soul Storm is another Mag 3 hold. I think many have seen this work wonders on some AVs. Between Beanbag and Soul Storm you have some decent stacking.

Okay now here is the kicker.. Before you slot that Expensive PvP IO, well at least to me .. I think that Cloaking Device Suppressed will give you the Range Defense cap you need. So you can slot a knock back IO in tough instead.

Now move Smoke Grenade to where Hover is.. Get rid of Hover and for your last slot pick up LRM. 2 slot it with Damage and recharge, one from Positron blast and one from Detonation. You get the 2nd slot from Surveillance. Again you can't slot for Positron because of the 5 slot rule. So you get not use out of it. I didn't find anything from another set I thought was useful, even looking into the knockbacks. So went for the damage and recharge increase.

Also you can put in Maneuvers or Assault as your last power. In Maneuvers you can slot LOTG+Recharge as you had in Hover. Or Assault with a End redux or a Hami and reslot that extra slot back into Surveillance again.

Maneuvers will put you at Defense Range cap without Cloaking Device. Though

I am thinking Assault for this build might be better since all your attacks will benefit from it.

But you can't argue with a Long Range Missile either..

Here is the build, compare it to yours and see. Not much difference really. IF at the end if you look in the combat window and see your Range Defense is 44 then you can slot in the PvP IO. Just remember it has to be suppressed so tag a gray con to see the Defense suppressed. IF good you just saved yourself the IO for another build.

Or you can sell that PvP IO and pass me along a consultation fee ..

some cool ideas there, Plainguy!

I've already got him set up for the build I posted, but he's got piles of respecs so I'm not totally locked in.

I think I'll play it 'as is' once I get it all slotted out (almost there, just waiting on some Supefies, of all things) and see how I like it, then maybe do some tweaks.

Checked in on him this AM, got nearly everything I need except for a few stragglers. Replaced the old bids with stupid high BUY NAO!!!! bids that should fill the next time one gets listed.
