Question about adding links inside posts.

The old forums made this much easier.

On these new forums, how do I embed a link inside a word?

For instance, if you were to click on the word below:

Linky

You would be directed to this link:

All you have to do is highlight the word that you want to make into a link and click . It's pretty easy.

It's a bit less than intuitive. I normally start off by using cut-and-paste for the URL so I don't make any mistakes. I click the button to insert a link (I'm set to the 'standard' edit screen) and paste the URL.

After I hit okay, the editor inserts the link to that site with the link text ALSO being the URL I just pasted. So, I delete the 'inner' copy of the URL and type whatever I want.

So, the editor inserts this: (the square brackets replaced by parentheses to 'un URL' it)
(URL="http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Main_Page")http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Main_Page(/URL)

And I edit it to this:
(URL="http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Main_Page")Linky(/URL)

You can use the [noparse] command to display your code so you don't have to use "replace this" instruction or [[img][/img]url] tricks.

Example:
CoH Homepage

Will display like this:
CoH Homepage

Yes. As long as the codes are in the proper order, it will work the same way.
Code:
[COLOR="DarkOrange"]CoH Homepage (Link in DarkOrange)[/COLOR]
[COLOR="Lime"]CoH Homepage (Link in Lime)[/COLOR]
[COLOR="Cyan"]CoH Homepage (Link in Cyan)[/COLOR]
[COLOR="Black"]CoH Homepage (Link in Black)[/COLOR]

Result:
CoH Homepage (Link in DarkOrange)
CoH Homepage (Link in Lime)
CoH Homepage (Link in Cyan)
CoH Homepage (Link in Black)

Then look out for that symbol () on any site you may post on. That's pretty much the universal symbol for "add hyperlink" in any kind of WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) HTML editor, just like that one means "add image."
