Wow, yeah, that does seem a bit crazy that it was only a year ago...
I can recall quite clearly thinking, "No way! No one can solo an AV!", and then watching the video of it and having my jaw drop.
I started trying to do it with my Katana/SR after I saw you do it.
I failed. Alot.
Then I actually started coming to this forum and reading and learning what it would actually take to solo an AV.
Now, I have a couple of Scrappers that can do it. And personally, even though I know alot of people think that the idea of a long solo AV fight is boring--I love it.
I love the idea that there isn't much out there that my Scrapper can't handle.
I fully understand that the point of starting this thread wasn't to have people kiss your butt, but seriously, kudos to you, sir, for the inspiration!
Well it was you, Werner and this one Katana/SR who's name escapes me at the moment (sorry) that got me started on it...
And I blame Jax and BillZ for my claws addiction... ;-)
Only recently have I gotten into the AV soloing game with my DM/SD, but building that character and exploring the upper echelons of Scrapper capabilities has been quite a journey. The knowledge provided here has been invaluable and I still visit these forums from time to time just to bask in the accumulated knowledge.
My hat's off to the Scrapper community for keeping things interesting.

Iggy, I still want to know how the hell you built your Claws/Regen to pull off the RWZ Challenge with just Swipe.
I have yet to solo an AV 
But I have tanked Regent Korol on the STF when the Invuln tank died a horrible death. I have almost pulled off a RWZ challenge, damn drone got me at the last second on my closest attempt, if my last Focus hadn't missed I'd have done it.
The funniest part of those things is, I never would have even tried if not for the stories and videos here in the scrapper section of the forums. My Claws/Regen is good, but he's not as good as I'd like him to be. He's in semi-retirement now since he ran out of content to do (I have zero contacts left to get missions from) but I still pull him out for craziness now and then.
I need to get my other scrappers up to at least his level of performance, next on the list is my BS/DA.
Thanks for driving me to be the best scrapper that I can be.

I actually had a better challenge than that with 3 chief soldiers and a couple of liets, unfortunately it was only recorded from a demo record.
OK so here's a remake on it. If I remember the numbers correctly, but it should be fairly close.

I might be on the odd side of regen users it looks like... I like that high HP as I tend not to use DP and IH together. When I hit IH, I'd like to survive on just that and save DP when IH is down...

Ohhh the i12 version of it was just ridiculously flawed as boxing and I think even brawl was slotted up with ToD.
I shall declare August 30th to be "Smack an AV" day! Fellow scrappers, next Sunday, take your best weapons out for a spin and make sure you take down at least one AV down for the cause!

To belatedly... ahem... brag a little, my demofiles have me separately beating Manticore and Mako with no temps, no inspirations on 4/12/2008. At the time, I had no idea if this was something that no one had done on a scrapper, or something that everyone was doing and just not bothering to post about. I didn't make a post about it. I think the only place I mentioned it was in a thread that Shred Monkey started, something like What did you do this weekend? I doubt anyone but Shred even noticed it. From my demo record file names and dates, it looks like I tried a few more AVs, failed on them, and went back to Storm Palace laps and Rikti War Zone Challenge variations for the next five months.
I took out my next AV on 9/12/2008, and that time on Sergei, who was designed from the ground up to solo AVs. He did quite well. Then I rebuilt Werner, and started taking them out on him on 10/12/2008.
I do think we as a group have come a long way since then. My mains are probably bottom tier AV soloing builds at this point since I haven't updated them since then, and everyone just keeps getting better at this. Hats off to everyone.

I recall last August I put my planned build together, then started running my "ultimate chain" which was empower>sweeping strikes... unexplicably it wasn't acting the way it should... powers weren't recharging when they should... I began investigating and discovered something. I emailed Arcanaville asking if she knew about it (of course she did), and she explained to me she'd been putting together a guide describing the phenominon, and about a week later we were given "Arcanatime." At first I was upset because the build I'd planned 4-5 months earlier was incapable of the DPS I wanted.... But then I realized how Arcanatime could be 'abused' to get me an attack chain I would have never used without that information (BF>AS>SS>AS)... and the set that benifitted most from that principle was in fact Dual Blades... and lucky me, I already had the set and build I needed... just tweak it a bit and start killing.

Hm, My first screenshot of soloing an AV is dated 2004-09-26 according to the filename, Countess Crey with my Inv/EM namesake Tank. Bile on 2004-10-03. Got a demo of her soloing Requiem Nov 10th 2004.

I remember PowerFist soloing damn near every AV on an MA/SR scrapper in about 2005. It sort of goes in waves, I think.

Today, I'm sitting at a PC that I used to post a series of videos showing a scrapper named Shred Monkey soloing a most of the AVs in the game. By today's standard that's impressive and I try to congratulate anyone who achieves such a feat. But at that time it was almost unheard of. The majority of people I ran into both in game, and in the forums had a "video, or it didn't happen" attitude toward soloing AVs. This is why I made videos in the first place. I really don't want to bring attention to myself. Many others have since done things far more impressive. So much so that this forum has become the Mecca for anyone looking for good solid numbers advice on any AT.
But the reason for this post and what really amazed me is this. The file creation date on the first video I posted is 8/30/08! Just shy of a year ago!
Has it really only been 1 year since all this AV soloing craziness started!?!?
Only a community of hardcore scrappers could achieve so much in so little time. Hat's off. And thanks for the good times. I can't wait to see how far we raise the bar in the next year.
