Non-English language with highest population?

I know it's impossible for a player to answer this definitively, but I'm really looking more for your observation and experience. The question is, what foreign language have you seen the most in your gameplay experience? Of all the non-English speaking (or even non-English preferring) players, what language do you think is most represented?

Personally, I've seen a handful of players who speak Portuguese; apparently there is a bit of a population of Brazilian players. I don't have access to the European servers, and I mean all players across the North American and European servers, so I'm wondering if there are more players whose native language is French or German since they have servers dedicated to them. When I think about it, it seems logical to me that there would be a lot of Spanish-language players, but to be honest, I don't think I've ever run across anyone speaking Spanish in the game. Or if something such as Chinese (not counting RMTers ) or Korean might be higher, but then, I don't see people speaking those languages, either.

For what it's worth, I do have stats from the Paragon Wiki that might help somewhat. The top 10 countries by page loads are as follows, along with their relative percentage of loads:

  • United States (79.78%)
  • Great Britain (6.85%)
  • Canada (6.30%)
  • Germany (1.79%)
  • Australia (1.57%)
  • Denmark (0.90%)
  • Sweden (0.88%)
  • France (0.76%)
  • Netherlands (0.60%)
  • Brazil (0.57%)

Of course, that might not accurately represent languages within the game; after all, if you only speak French, why would you come to the English-language Paragon Wiki? It could be more of an indication of how many people within those countries speak English than representative of how many non-English speaking people from those countries play the game.

Anyway, any insights would be appreciated!

As far as I know, there are more players on the French server than the German one, but that might be because German players are more comfortable on an English server than French players.

I've seen a couple of spanish names with spanish bios; one or two people speaking spanish in game; and at I believe one person speaking portuguese in broadcast (I think looking for anyone else who spoke portuguese; I have about eight words of spanish, eight words of latin and six words of italian, so it was a blatant guess. It may not even have been portuguese.)

I know a couple Brazilians. They all speak fluent English though, so I never see them speak anything else.

I know several "Asian" people (the folks I know are Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese) as well, but again, never see them speak anything but English.

I think it's going to be really difficult to know because of this kind of thing. It's very possible are you know quite a few people who know additional languages or, especially if you don't use a voice chat system, even play with people who are non-native English speakers, but you aren't aware of it because they use English when they're playing with English speakers. (When in Rome... only different.)

Sometimes you can tell when someone is using English as a second language, but sometimes you can't. I always forget that Samuel Tow isn't a native English speaker. His English is better than many people I know who don't speak anything else. Many times Sam's English is better than my own.

The German server is not very busy. On average I would say there are about 40-50 villains online during peak hours. For heroes you can double that number. Weekends might see more than that.

Then again I know a lot of us are playing on Defiant and Union as well just for that reason. Of course it really doesn't solve the problem. On a positive note the atmosphere on Zukunft is much more familiar. Although I will concur that it would not look too good for newcomers.

My guess would be that Spanish has quite a few active speakers. If I remember correctly Defiant had a good bit of Spanish chatter a few years back.
