Similar ideas have come up on occasion, but it's still a refreshing change from the "Nerf AE" threads. 
The last power being a waste is... debatable. Hibernate, for instance, doesn't really need slotting, so you can shunt the 50 slots elsewhere. That said, I wouldn't argue with this.
Yeah, my lv49 power generally ends up being something that doesn't need much slotting (like a self-res, or an auto power). Which also usually means my build doesn't really need the power in the first place.

The only problem I see is that characters are balanced around everyone having the same number of powers and the same number of slots at level 50.
As Bill and Whisper said, most people build to take a power at 49 that requires little or no slotting. A lot of times that power is unnecessary for the build in the first place. Would be a little unfair for one person to have more slots than another because there was nothing left their character needed, while the other person took a useful or necessary power there instead.
I'm not especially against the idea, I'm just pointing out that it does have a sizable hole in it.

I just wish we had enough slots to 6-slot our last power if we so desired. Since the reward for getting to level 50 is unimpressive right now (three more slots, the same as level 48), I wouldn't mind seeing something a little more. Say, five slots for reaching level 50 would be fine. That's only two extra, so it shouldn't throw things TOO far out of scale, and it would be a nice little benefit, as well as a chance to 6-slot your final power.

And I agree completely. It would be nice to get a bit of a bonus upon hitting 50. I am always a bit dissapointed by what is the last time that character ever needs to train (unless you dual-build).
I think this is a good idea. Given that some builds find a use for that 49 power, but others don't, this would be a great middle ground. I'm not sure that it'd be that big a balance issue, given that it's only a few slots and most people have taken all their good powers by then.
5 slots at 50 would be a nice compromise. Everyone would still have the same amount so it's still fair, and the people who have a level 49 power they'd like to 6 slot would be able to.

Not to rain on your parade or anything but you can 6 slot your "level 49 power". All you have to do is take it at 47. There is no power in the game that you can take at 49 that you can't take at 47, allowing you to 6 slot it easily.

But as far as the very often suggested idea of getting more slots for your last power I have a reasonable suspicion we may yet see that point addressed by the Going Rogue expansion.
The Devs alluded to the idea of adding new "universal enhancement slots" that would serve as a means of post level 50 advancement. This was mentioned in the same 'Market Survey' which accurately predicted details about the MA system and the Going Rogue expansion itself a year ago. Basically this feature would be an alternative to raising the level cap.
Obviously there's no guarantee that it will happen, but we'll know soon enough.

Lets say that, for whatever reason, I want to 6 slot all of my epic powers.
I have enough slots to do that, given how I have 63 total over the life of my character, but my last power is always 2 slots short
I think that level 50 should grant 5 additional slots instead of 3. Some people may argue that they don't need any additional slots, so why bother. I would counter that if you don't need the additional slots, you can through them whereever you desire and they won't hurt you. With ED, 2 additional slots wouldn't make things any more overpowered (I will admit that, although I can't see how, this might be debatable)

Granted, you CANNOT make it such that you can 6-slot both the 47 and 49 powers unless you grant 10 slots between 48 and 50, which means either 5-5 or 3-8, which in turn just isn't feasible. But being able to 6-slot one power and still have at least a few slots left over for the other one is definitely a good idea, in my opinion. Plus, the fact is that the reward for level 50 is insulting. It's God damn level 50! It should give something more than what I got at level 31!

Hello, I am sorry if this has been suggested already, I did look and was unable to find if it was already mention. So here goes and please do not jump all over me for posting this. When a player is at level 49 I thought it would be neat to have a choice of a power OR slots. I always thought that the last power was almost a waste because of being unable to slot fully. Again sorry if this was already posted
