I.D. Editor Not Functioning Correctly

As the topic says, there is a problem with the I.D. Editor. When I try to select a specific line of text, the selection goes all over the place. The typing cursor is always two lines above where I usually click it. Not only that, it doesn't backspace when it reaches the first column of a line.

Is this issue well-known? Or is it a problem on my end?

Sounds more like a problem your end.

First, reboot your computer and see if it's still a problem. If yes, then check out this thread, Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines

Then post the results of these two programs:

  • CoH Helper - it will show us basic computer settings and your CoH configuration.
  • HijackThis - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format > Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.

I've seen strange behavior while editing text as well. I don't think it's strictly on his end.

As a workaround, I end up just using the arrow keys to select the location where I am typing. As for the backspace not working correctly for line breaks, I go to the end of the previous line and press Delete instead.

It is quite annoying.

I have also very frequently come across these issues. There is definitely something up with the ID editor. Whether it's an issue with the client itself or our computers, there is a problem.

We'll see....

Count me in on these problems. The editor is quite the afterthought, but I've tamed it and don't have issues mostly.

The process is simple: Do not use line breaks, make a wall of text. Do NOT use double spaces (like after a period.) Do NOT use special symbols.

The editor is quite tameable in a single spaced block of normal text. AFTER you finish your block, and are satisfied, you can then start adding line breaks, double spacing, etc... Just be sure to start at the TOP and work progressively downwards... and that is going to be farily final. Don't change it after. It'll break again.

Hope that helps y'all.
