Purple farming is the more unpredictable type of farming, it can range from dirt nothing to twice as good as AE. Personally, my figures, assuming i found a purple every 2 hours of inmap farming was still beaten by the AE figures, but thats due to the fact that theres a good 10-15 min time on finding fillers and spawning out a map. Albeit, if your farming some group besides mech men or wisps on a ss/fire your generally doing something wrong in MA

Sounds like Purple farming isn't very lucrative then. I can make up to 500 million per day farming the AE. Usually I just do it for a couple hours at night and only make 200 million.

Unless all purple drops sell in the 200-250 million margin it's not worth my time.

This is on a SS/WP Brute too. With a SS/Fire I should be rocking out more damage.

No-one uses fillers anymore for AE. Just round up 3 groups of mobs at the aggro cap one after the other, kill them (~750 tickets), then hit the glowie (~750 tickets.) Usually takes 8-12 minutes.

Anyone have a bute ss/fire with the following:

45 Melee Defense
90% Fire Resist
150% Recharge
180-200 Recovery

Just from quickly glancing.. Fiery Embrace, Burn and Ball Lightning are all in need of some love.

Edit: Could use more recharge bonus, too.

I agree, defense looks good, but for a farming build high recharge is a must for SS/.

The general thing is, softcapping MELEE defense is half the equation. To be precise, every attack, save a few non-positional psi attacks, have two or more defense numbers. Fire Sword? Fire/melee of course. So if you in practice have 20 % fire defense and 25% melee, you are basically "SoftCapped" to the attack.

I tend to build 30% melee defense, and by then most of my other "typed" defenses are enough to sufficently back up the melee defense. Right now my defense is 30.8 % to melee and my weakest "typed" is 12%, fire and cold types, which makes my least defended attacks 42% in numbers. I have 161% end recover, 125 recharge (With hasten), perma-rage without hasten, 16 % damage bonus to boost. My recharge with and without hasten is Healing Flames:12.4 and 15.8 respectively, I am also currently trying out Blazing Aura, i normally don't, but i put the PvP IO chance for -Resist in there to try for flavor. The results are interesting.

Wrong. Defense uses only the highest number of those that match the attack.

Sorry, been busy. Anyway:

The way I build my FA characters is not like a resistance character with a heal, but more built around the heal with resistances to give it time to work. So my entire build is geared around having enough recharge to have Healing Flames up whenever I need it, which of course helps because stuff dies much faster.

I'm looking at your build you posted, its at 60% without Hasten, 130% with. I would aim for about 70-80%. I know its a melee defense build, but I would strongly urge you to reconsider that. I agree with Chaos_Creator, build for recharge. Then you don't have to have weird stuff like Boxing 6slotted with Mockings.

My recommendations:
Leave the Obliterations in Footstomp, take one of them out for a Force Feedback proc, take the Obliterations out of Consume, replace with Efficacy Adaptors. You can also take the 6th slots out of Burn and Elec Fences, use those to get some more resistance in Plasma Shield.

Take the slots out of Boxing, bring it down to 2 slots for Stupefys or Absolute Amazements for the recovery bonus. Put some slots in Tough too, you want to be sitting at around 50% or more for s/l resistance.

I don't know if you want Taunt for itself or if its just a set mule, if its just a set mule I'd recommend swapping it out for Hurl or Mu Lightning and put Apocs or Decimations in there so you have a ranged attack for runners.

Swap the dam/range in Ball Lightning for the energy proc, it'll raise the average damage by quite a bit as long as you hit several targets with it which isn't going to be a problem for a farming build.

While I'm not a fan of Temperature Protection, I've got purples bringing my fire resist up to about 80, so go ahead and keep that in there, you need it to cap your fire res even with a slotted up Plasma Shield. If you move the Steadfast -kb IO to Temperature Prot you can put a res/end IO in Plasma so both your shields are giving you 34% res and you're still fire capped.

What you could also consider is putting Kinetic Crashes in KO Blow, while the enhancement values it gives for everything but Knockback (up in this case) are fairly poor, it allows you to take a -KB IO from somewhere else and gives decent recharge. I've done this and while you want your hardest hitting ST attack to hit as hard as it can, I've found the difference to be negligible with Rage and Fury. If you really want KOB to count hit FE beforehand.

Thanks for responding. Am I right in thinking that the most important thing for a /FA is to have perma hasten / 150% recharge? Even at the expense of damage, defense, and resistance?

I have a hard time agreeing with the idea that a character with Healing Flames recharging in 12 seconds with negligible defense is superior to a build with Healing Flames recharging in 13.7 seconds with 45% defense. Surely the 2 second difference won't matter at all, especially considering that the character with 45% defens will be getting hit 90% less. (Thus removing the dependence on Healing Flames by a significant margin.)

I boss farm with luck inspirations. That way I get the best of everything.

Yeah I do that with my friends Willpower Brute. Seeing as three aggro-cap groups + clicky hits the ticket cap...I'm wondering if I might just do the same with my FA. Only issue is that I'll need to pop endurance insps in order to keep the toggles running. So having defense handled by something already in the build would be useful.

Also running all my toggles, including superspeed, only costs me 1.38 end/sec

Is consume enough by itself? Even with 150% recharge it's only up once per minute / 45 seconds.

Eh you're right creator, meh, kinda against logic but true.

If you can afford it, i've found that using the Fury of the Gladiator: Chance for -Resist makes a noticable difference in damage.

Probably most useful in Footstomp, but I like my 5 'geddons and FFB proc setup. Dmg toggles are too flakey with procs to be relied on and burn/consume aren't used enough to be worth it, imo. Unless you're locking down each boss spawn with elec fences, I guess. Evem then, Burn has a teeny radius and only hits 5 dudes at once.
